Any one owned an RX450h? Would you recommend them? I would be buying used at around £20-25k.

I like this size of vehicle and it's attractive as not diesel.

Even a £20k RX is still based on an incredibly old platform is it not?

The GS450h would get you into what looks a much more modern car if you particularly want hybrid, though obviously doesn't give quite the same practicality.

Again though you'd need to really want both a Lexus and a Hybrid (I really like them but it's hard to reccomend one)

The issue with the RX is that it's just not as practical as cars you might consider in the class below it (both in size and price). So whilst it's a nice car, it doesn't quite do the big practical SUV thing that you get with its competitors (some of which even have 7 seats...). I think the GS is a good shout because of this if you want Lexus + Hybrid specifically.

Unless you need an SUV, go for the GS 450h instead. Had mine a few years now and love it. The eCVT isn't really that bad when mated with a 3.5L engine (I understand CVT hatred with my current Spanish Yaris hybrid hire car). True it would be awful on a track but for everyday driving it is fine. Sticking to the speed limits, I've been averaging about 44mpg over the summer doing a mix of driving. Make sure you get one with the ML HiFi upgrade. Also the entended warranty is £1k for two years which includes European roadside assist and zero excess. You can extend it to 140k miles / 10 years.

I kind of wanted an SUV. But I don't really want a diesel and it also needs to be automatic. I don't need to have a hybrid though.
