I think it used to be on Channel 5 years ago (i think I was 12 or something) and I remember it being one of the darkest science fictions i've ever watched.

I've been reading it up and apparently Season 4 is the only part of the series which is extremely cheesy and rubbish so I'll stay clear of that.

Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some views on what they think of the series, I just remember it being quite dark (a kind of fascist, dark world before they leave space).

I also have quite fond memories of watching this late at night on 5 a good number of years ago, apart from the very 2 big points which were obviously appealing about the series ( ;) ) I thought it had quite a tacky/cheesy charm about it.

Some of the plots were very strange and the interplay between the dead assasin and infactuated gay robot head was usually quite interesting :D If I found the DVDs cheap I'd probably buy them. I never watched it avidly though so couldn't tell you which series is good/bad etc.

yeh i mind that too :D i used to watch on channel 5, it was on really late though, like 12am

i thought it was like the softest of softcore at times. but i really liked watchin it, i stayed up late just to watch it, cant remember what it was about or anything like that though

EDIT>>Oh yeh the gay robot, he fancied the main guy Kai, rofl ah man i love nostalgia :p

the girl in it was pretty hot too

funnilly enough, i don't actually remember the sexual inuendo in it. I do remember the females wearing very scimpy outfits but meh.

and yes, I remember that gay robot head :p

I remember that like, the showers on the Lexx were incredibly phallus - esque in shape and operational.

maybe it was quite softcore

*VERY FUNNY SPOILER*

i never seen the final episode but

In the final episode of the series Lexx dies shortly after giving birth to a smaller, very Lexx-like ship, the result of a brief union with an insect on Earth

LOL, a giant city sized ship has a child with an insect, wtf

You say you were 12 at the time, I'm sure your innocent and un-tainted mind wasn't suseptable to such low budget innuendos :D

There seems to be a reoccuring film whenever people talk about Lexx: no one seemed to have a clue what was going on most of the time :D

I thought Lexx was great. I didn't watch it obsessively, but I often caught it on late-night TV and certainly have seen a couple of series worth. I can't say I recall anything particularly menacing about the plot. It was just, for the most part, a really peculiar, slightly surreal program (probably why it was on late nights ;)) that drifted between being a coherent serial and, yeah, a soft-core porn movie. The fact it never took itself seriously is its charm.

I'm not really a great fan of serious serialised [TV] science-fiction. Serious sci-fi can be great on film, but I think it works better on a long-term with a bit of humour and tongue-in-cheek script-writing (Red Dwarf, Buck Rogers and much 70s sci-fi).

The fact it's so bad is what, in my eyes, makes it so good - visual and mental masochism in its finest form. In fact I think I'm going to have to see if I can start watching it again :D.

I have the first series on DVD (4x 2hr episodes). I watched it up until they got to Earth and things got stupid(er). I may watch it again sometime though.

I think that's why I liked watching it at the time. And there used to be nothing else decent to watch at the time it was aired :)

excellent series, apart from S4 which just blew chunks. Its well worth sticking with all the way through, theres defenitly a story arc in there somewhere :) Although it can get pretty surreal at times. Best moment was the robot head getting transplanted onto some musclebound body builder type body and proceeding to try and bum Stanley to death all through the episode lol

Couldnt really call series 1 a series as it was just 4 2 hour episodes. Series 2 was them in the dark zone and series 3 revolved around them being stuck in the orbit of 2 planets, fire and ice?

I certaintly wouldnt call it bad! Was miles better scifi than something like Enterprise and Torchwood for a start. The writing was great, the characters interesting and you can get all the dvd's pretty cheap these days.
