Hello all,

My GPU is finally on it's way out. Despite checking drivers, connections and settings the fan is constantly running and will probably be going soon.

I am looking to upgrade the GPU and take any advice on what else I should look at changing.

I don't have a super system but only use it to play simple games like Civ 5, XCom series and other RTS.

I currently have:

AMD Radeon HD 6900 GPU
ASUS P8268-v motherboard
Saga 2 500w power supply
8gb RAM
Intel 4 core I5-2500k CPU 3.30Ghz
Kingston 240gb SSD
Samsung 1Tb Hard drive
Running on Windows 10 x64

I am looking to budget between £150 to £200 for the GPU but will happily take advice on it.

Thank you all in advance.

Depending on. Whether you run out of ram, could consider an extra 8gb ddr3 ram to make 16gb.
Heavily modded games such as xcom 2 would benefit from more ram.
If you do decide to go down this route, suggest getting the ram second hand, as ddr3 is dead tech. Wouldn't advise getting it new. :)

Also, this psu could be the source of all your troubles as it's an unknown brand (with probably crappy internals)
If you do get a new graphics card, suggest getting a better PSU whilst you're at it. You don't want your PSU killing your new GPU now, would you? Lol

Thank you very much. Fingers crossed this may be first tentative steps into the PC building and Modding
to save a bit more cash (£12 to be exact) - to bring it closer to budget
you can get the corsair CX450M - not sold @ OCUK

they both have 5 years warranty
the bitfenix formula above is gold rated, whereas the corsair cxm is bronze rated - but for the purposes of energy efficiency, this is minimal given the wattages in question
as above, the corsair is cheaper, and more importantly, also semi-modular
