Argh, I both love and hate steam deals! Pretty much all my steam games have been bought on there because the deals are so good! But its just so gutting missing awesome deals!!

I was just gonna buy l4d2, do I really need to have played the first one or what? What would I be missing by not buying the the first one?

You won't miss anything, other than a great game. There's no real link between the games (although you do get to meet the L4D1 peeps in The Passing).

But get L4D2. It's the better of the two.
