LG has come to the party on the 25% window issue noticed on 2017 LG OLED models.
This might affect other branded OLED's from 2017 as well.

Watch the video below to see what it looks like and if you TV has the same issue, LG will fix it for free within 5 years after purchase, even if the warranty has expired. Some people with this issue may think they have "burn in" and so this fix will totally fix the problem for them, it's a panel defect not burn in.

This particular issue which causes part of the screen to be dimmer than the rest is caused by the panels not sufficiently cooling down during the production process, which then causes the look-up table software to load incorrect values. The fix involves opening the TV to get to a service port and then manually updating the look-up table values to the correct values.

That's a bit annoying for any 2017 OLED owners, I wonder how other manufacturers will deal with the issue seeing as its panel related?

Just because I hate channels that upload content from other channels purely to make money from ads, here's the original video:

I've got a B7 so this is good to know, thanks OP. No issues with mine but will keep it in mind.

I'd thought the initial rtings burn in panels had been replaced a couple of years back for this,
whilst I don't know if Panasonic can correct for this, they have some presentations where they discuss their (exclusive?) oled panel inspection/tuning flow,
which makes adjustment to look up tables across the panel surface.

My C7 panel was replaced foc by LG only a few weeks ago. I had to send LG pics of the large rectangle image (most obvious on red background), and they arranged pick up a drop off of the set. It is a 55C7.
Good service from LG. It m,ust cost thema fortune to replace the screen and the transport. It was picked up and delivered in a large piano style wooden crate - very secure.

I have this problem on my LG OLED55B7 (manufactured Dec 17) rang them a week last Saturday at 12, sent an email with my receipt and photo of the issue (slightly different colour rectangular box in the middle of the screen, especially in the red/orange/yellow range) and I got a phone call back at 5 on Saturday to say the repair has been authorised and I would be contacted with a repair date within 2 working days. Can't complain at that service!

A company is coming out to replace the screen this afternoon.

I'm a bit confused now though, does a new screen fix the issue if it's a software problem?

Going to check my B7 shortly, seems strange some are being taken away to be replaced and others are fixed at your home.

Screen replaced and issue gone.

The picture seems to be so much better in general, far more uniformity with a lot less noise and banding in the solid colours and especially blacks which were quite noticeable at times, especially with lower resolution sources.

I've checked mine over on a few different solid colours and can't see anything, did you guys use a specific test or settings?

a specific test or settings?

Week 11 (04/10/2018): We contacted LG regarding the strange results in week 4. LG engineers visited our lab a few days ago and were able to confirm the 25% window on the Live CNN and FIFA 18 TVs are a result of a factory issue (see our video here). OLED TVs are produced in a hot process, and after cooling a 25% window is shown on each panel. Some TVs which haven't cooled completely can produce invalid results for the lookup table used by the 'Pixel Refresh' function, causing this 25% window to become visible. Only some 55" OLED TVs were affected during part of 2017.
As this is not an issue with the panel itself, it is possible to apply a fix to the lookup table. LG will apply this fix to anyone who presents this issue to their support, for free, even after the warranty period has long expired. They have fixed our two affected TVs (see the uniformity photos below). Note that this doesn't fix other uniformity issues as the result of static content, only the 25% window caused by a factory defect. LG has also confirmed that there is variation between panels, which is why some OLED appear more prone to developing uniformity issues (as in the case with our Live CNN (200 nits) vs Live CNN (Max).)
