LG 25UM58-P - Screen split software only?

Hi guys,

I'm looking at the LG 25UM58-P as a work/gaming screen and like the screen split option. However, I will be using my work laptop and can't install software on it. Does anyone know if the screen can be split with hardware buttons or do you need LG's software installed?

The monitor requires software to split the screen - there is no option within the settings on the actual monitor to do so
