Looking at B grade monitors and this seems to tick a lot of boxes, however, one thing that concerns me is there are 9 of them, which suggests a lot of people are sending them back for some reason, are there particular issues with this model, e.g. IPS glow or so?

I would guess that's the exact reason most of them have been returned. The joys of IPS and cracking quality control by manufacturers. You could get lucky and get a decent one it's literally a lottery though.

It could also be a damaged box item or open box or someone changing their mind. I have owned this monitor from new and never had any issues (except that the HDR isnt great :D). But as @Ree said its a lottery.

Own both the ASUS VG27AQ and LG 27GL850-B for both gaming and work - Haven't had issues with the LG monitor, been working like a charm. The monitor colour reproduction is pretty good - does need a little adjusting if you are into graphical work. The USB hub works fine as well, no drop outs. But nothing really very problematic about it.

But... two little things to mention - if you're planning to use a monitor arm, if may not be compatible - I'm not referring to the vesa size, but the interesting option to recess the mount where some arms can't actually slot in nicely.

Secondly, which is more of a cosmetic thing, which I find on monitors without a plastic border (on the screen plane) is manufacturers don't apply the film perfectly. My LG monitor has a 0.1mm'ish dot on the top right of the monitor (on the black border), it isn't intrusive but it's noticeable when you find it - similar to a tiny air bubble under a screen protector.

Terms of IPS glow - there is, but it isn't crazy bad.
