I asked in a pre sale thread about this monitor and there are hold ups with ports and customs with LG so things may be delayed. I've had another unrelated package stuck at customs for over a month now.

I sense this new LG monitor will join other tech with a dire short supply for many months. It will definitely be targetted by scalpers, as next gen console owners are also eager for fast-fps capable screen.

I will be very suprised if OCUK have the appetite to open this for pre-orders. The workload to handle preorder queues, plus cancelled order costs must surely stop it being worthwhile.

Same as the old one. Only spec difference i can see is the DSC which the new model doesn't have.

Is the loss of DSC a good or bad thing? I guess its good less compression is surely a good thing.

I'm guessing it doesn't need DSC as HDMI 2.1 has the extra bandwidth not to need it. Might be a bit of a bandwidth issue if you are using DP 1.4 though.

As far as i know, and according to spec info i have from LG, the DisplayPort 1.4 interface still features DSC to allow 4K at 160Hz without colour depth/chroma sacrifice

HDMI 2.1 is an option but from a PC won't offer any visual advantages, as if your graphics card has HDMI 2.1 it will also have DSC over DP so you can just use that. The addition of 2x HDMI 2.1 ports is more aimed at support for latest gen consoles, and will support 4K @ 120Hz, HDMI-org VRR and ALLM

Been waiting for this monitor since CES now. fingers crossed we are able to place orders on Wednesday. Not getting my hopes up though with the way things are.

Compared to the Eve Spectrum, this will actually have UK based warranty and service. And it will arrive at around the same time - May 2021.

Nope 4k 160hz, 27" HDR 600 - Freesync + Gsync

I be upgrading from BenQ 144hz 1440p Freesync

It was already a great monitor with combo of high refresh rate and 4K, no need to drop colour to get there and other high end features including hardware calibration. This new edition just adds HDMI 2.1 as well

Well the HDMI 2.1 plus the other specs. This will probably be the first 4K 27" high refresh rate HDMI 2.1 screen to market unless the Eve Spectrum beats it to it.

Do any PC (without console) users ever choose HDMI over Displayport though?
