LG 27UK850-W Issue any help?

Hi,

can I get some advice due to issue with my new LG 27UK850-W. I have connected it to my work laptop and set to run via 1440p HDMI. But it will only run at 29hz refresh rate and wont allow 60hz selection. Any idea why not?

Is this due to it being connected to a laptop?

I'm speculating but my best guess is that the E5550 is an older version of the HDMI specification? Or possibly more likely the cable is a bit old? I've tried a little Googling of the the HDMI version it uses but I can't see anything. Have you been able to run any other large monitors from it in the past?
