LG 27UK850

Hello all,

Does anybody have any insight on when this monitor might become available in the UK? I was literally ready to press purchase on an LG 27UD88 for use alongside my Macbook Pro despite knowing it was a couple of years old and potentially about to be replaced. The one I was about to purchase now seems to be going out of stock at various online retailers and the 27UK850 already seems to be available in the US.

If it's UK release is imminent I would much rather wait

EDIT - Just done a search and seen an LG rep saying it should be this month, should have done this before creating the thread.

the 27UK850 is only a UHD monitor not 4k but near.

its a 4K UHD monitor - the same as all others bar very few - 3840x2160 res gives over 8m pixels which is 4k

The difference between 4K and UHD is

1. 4K is a professional production and cinema standard. 4,096 x 2,160, is aspect ratio of 1.9:1

2. UHD is a consumer display and broadcast standard 3,840 x 2,160, is aspect ratio of 1.78:1 (256 pixels narrower than Cinema 4K)

It’s not as if TV/ Monitor manufacturers aren’t aware of the differences between 4K and UHD. But presumably for marketing reasons they use the 4K UHD name because it sells more then you call it UHD or 2160p it's true name that might confuse the consumer.

And all broadcast 4K TV is UHD 3840 x 2160 and 4K DCI films will be probably be cropped to 3840 x 2160 so buying those 4K UHD Blu-ray is not true 4K just another Marketing reasons the manufacturers like to use this name to sell the product.

Ultra HD consumer format has a slightly lower resolution of 3840 X 2160 not true 4K 256 pixels less
