After quite a bit of research I decided on upgrading to an LG 38WN95C monitor, so finally took the plunge and paid OCUK my £1350 to pre-order. I believe that they have had some stock but are waiting for new stock. This was almost a month ago now but they are still unable to say when they might expect to be able to supply. They can't even say if it is weeks, months or never.

I wouldn't mind so much if they weren't holding my £1350 since I could continue to shop around or maybe even make a different choice. What do people think of this situation? Is it like COVID - it will be OK in the end but we don't know when - or should I give up and rethink my monitor strategy?

Actually, since posting my comment it has appeared on OCUK that stock of 38WN95C has an ETA of 4th November. Goodness knows how many monitors they will receive and how many people are in the queue. My fingers are crossed.

Yes, I had a similar negative reply from an enquiry even when an ETA of 4th November was published (although I hadn't spotted it). It seems that whoever responds to webmail is not adequately informed. Let us wait until 4th November and see what happens. I say again that I might be more understanding if it weren't for the fact that they have already charged me in full and are holding my money.

After the ETA date of 4th November OCUK went back to saying "Pre-order" and no ETA. I enquired what had happened and was told that the delivery did not arrive on 4th November as expected but that they are expecting a substantial delivery in November. I shall wait it out a bit longer but if anyone finds it available elsewhere then please post and we can all scramble over there.

I'm afraid that I find the strategy of taking our money in full when there is no firm delivery date to be sharp practice. I guess without it being available anywhere else they have us by the s&c . . .

After a 14 week wait (in which OC has had my money), my LG 38WN95C is now listed as ready for dispatch and, hopefully, arriving tomorrow. It is still on the website as "preorder" though, so maybe they got a batch in and immediately dispatched to whoever else has been in the queue.

This is the first time that I have indulged myself in a high end monitor so I have no idea if this is par for the course or if COVID/BREXIT is to blame. The most trying thing was being given no information on expected availability or advice on something equivalent that is immediately available. At the very least they could have said "we have orders for 10 monitors, you are #6 and we are expecting a batch of 8 on xx/xx/2021. Such a shame that OC have not been anything other than a dumb middle-(wo)man. At least if there is a next time I shall know to lower my expectations.
