LG 42-inch OLED

What refresh rate are OLED TVs now a days, 120hz?
I had a quick look in Currys the other day and the OLED Evo OLED55G45 LW.AEK stood out the most.

Yes 120Hz for he LG's mate.

I've owned multiple for years, one 65" for our living room which is still going strong after at least 8+ years and then a 42" that I use with my PC setup, which I bought when LG first released that smaller size.

Just to say, after I got myself a C4 42" I feel like it is PERFECT monitor size. I had Philips 40" for years and wanted something bigger, so got myself 48" OLED. OLED is a top class of its own, so will never go back to VA/IPS, but the size - 48" was a waste of spacee for me for 80% of the time when I worked on it as I had all windows centered and maybe taking 70% of the screen. Now, with 42" it feels right, bigger a bit, good for gaming, but also good for work tasks.

Had a 42 myself for a while now (C2) and also really feel that the size works for all circumstances. Was worried that it would be too big when I first bought it but would easily buy another.

too big? Noooo. It is amazing size for work, browsing, youtube and then for gaming. Gaming could alwyas be bigger, when had 48" playing Dead Space made me change my underwear more often ;) If Ic ould I would have huge 65 " for gaming only, then 42" as main monitor :)

I think the later LGs are 144hz - correct me if im wrong.

Isnt 42" a bit large for desktop use? How's the text clarity and fringing for desktop use?
I did consider a an LG evo OLED42C44LA for £685 which seems like a steal of a price but went with a Dell Alienware AW3225QF due to it being able to fit on my desk, having a slight curve and being 240hz. Not much more at £720.

Is the OLED42C44LA Gsync compatible or is it Gsync native and have a Gsync module? This page only lists monitors, cant find a TV listing - https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/

Last time I looked they were still 120Hz but I wouldn't be surprised if the technology jumps forward at some point. I'm old though, so 120Hz is probably better than my eyes can pick up anyway. :p

C4 = 144Hz
G4 = 144Hz
C5 = 144Hz
G5 = 165Hz

Pretty sure they're all just compatible. Hardware cost of a Gsync unit in a consumer TV where most customers watch, not game, would be an excessive expense.

Crazy there are no serious reviews of the C5 42, every review seems to be about the specs rather than an actual unit. I will await a review before dropping any moolah, the C2 is fine but would be nice to get a bit faster of a frame rate. Shame the G5 is restricted to the 55+ inches

Seems like the C5 is around 10% brighter than the C4 probably a fair bit brighter than my C2.. just can't make my mind up to see if it is worth the upgrade. When you swapped the C3 for C4 did you see any big improvements @Mightyashy

I'll make it an easy choice for you... ITS NOT WORTH IT.

I mean if you have nothing better to spend money on, fill your boots....

My C2 OLED was a good upgrade from my 1080 LCD TV... as aside from being 4k, AND OLED....it brought 120hz, good HDR, and freesync VRR to the table on top...

But if you get pleasure from flushing money down the toilet, by all means, upgrade!

I currently own a AW3225QF and it's very good. However I've been feeling the itch for another LG tv as I gamed for a few years on an LG oled CX and that was excellent. So I saw the 42" C4 for £ 649 and I thought bargain so I've bought one. I know it's only 144Hz with my 4090 and my AW3225QF is faster but 144Hz is good enough for me. I got have gone 48" but I want not too big for my desk. So I'll post my experience . :)
