LG 42LG6000

clouding and motion blur, I still haven't sent the V3000 back yet! 28 days from a certain retailer... had just over 1 week..

at 1st the motion didn't bother me, until I put my PS3 onto my toshiba 32wlt66, and the tosh had less blur. Playing fifa 08 is much better on the tosh do to less blur

also developed 2 stuck/dead pixels

I'm afraid that motion blur is inherent to all LCD screens and becomes more noticeable on larger screens, hence it was better on your 32" Tosh.

It is? Can't say I've never noticed any blurring on any LCD's I've owned, mind you none of them have been faulty or the proper cheap ones.

I'm subscribing to this topher...Please keep it updated on how your return goes. I have a JL engineer coming round to look at mine on Sat morn. I have complained of clouding and un-even backlight...we'll see what he says. I'll also bring up motion blur if he says anything :)

I want a 42" PX80

It's inherent in the technology, there isn't really much you can argue about it.

Some screens perform better than others - I came very close to buying a Sony 40X2000 or a 40X3500 which are two of the best LCDs available and not 'proper cheap' at around £2k. Regardless of how well they manage the issue though they still ghost fast moving images.

Still haven't seen any ghosting and I play many fast paced games and watch a lot of movies.

Come to think of it I had one monitor ages ago that ghosted when playing Halo on PC pretty bad, but that's it. (it was a cheap one)

Good image processing and the new 100/120hz panels make this pretty much non-existent (when they work). Smearing is not a problem on all LCD sets. Take JVCs DS8 series as an example of having exceptional motion handling with no smearing evident.
The Sony TVs have never been highly regarded when it comes to motion handling and many of their recent panels have had problems with smearing and clouding.

Monitors have a much quicker response time than TVs, they are designed to do so.
Most new LCD's have response times around 4-8ms which is comparable to any non TN-Film monitor.

I've not seen any reviews of the new LG LCD but take a look at the Panasonic 37LZD85, Toshiba 40ZF355D, Phillips 9603/9703 and the new Samsung's. All have 100hz and handle motion very well.

Strange, as the only LCD I've had present ghosting/smearing was a PC monitor. :p

My current BenQ monitor and LG television are excellent when it comes to motion and ghosting, as was my old Samsung tele. :)

I'm willing to stand corrected, I've not really viewed an LCD since I bought my plasma in December, but I have been able to see smearing, particularly during football matches, in all the LCDs I've previously looked at.

If things are improving then that's great, but I still feel that 100/120hz doesn't solve the problem and that plasmas are much better at motion handling.

I know what you mean about smearing, we had an old SD LCD (when they like, first started coming out) and it definitely smeared, it was awful. :)

Plasma's are definitely better across the board but with the better LCD's that i mentioned the problem is pretty much non-existent.
The problems with a lot of screens is the feeds. My monitor is great with good feeds but when using the TV Card in my PC football looks awful. This is almost solely down to the tuner and not the screen as the screen handles games and other good feeds pretty well.
I think LCD's just can't hide poor quality feeds in the same way as Plasma's and that is where the problems/impressions come from.
