Hey guys,

I have up to £1000 to spend on a 65" TV.

I'm not a cinema buff, my watching consists solely of sports via Sky Go or BT Sport player, youtube and the odd film on Netflix/Amazon etc.

PC Gamer through and through do don't own any consoles other than an N64

I think i've narrowed it down to the two models in the title, but was looking for opinions on which would be better?

I'm really liking the idea of the Ambilight on the Philips, but will the Nanocell give me that much better picture quality/depth of colour?

Any help would be appreciated

The LG is better, but neither are great in that price range, just get a Hisense U8Q with some standard bias lighting for the bang for buck.

That said, if sports is that important, I think the LG has better motion handling.
