Has anybody installed aftermarket cooling on the abit lg-81's pwm? I searched and seen that WJA96 had done so, but did not really have enough info in the thread such as case an fan setup,etc. If anybody has done this in an x-qpack in particular i'd be very interested in knowing what you did. Even if it's in another case could someone plase help me.

Thanks

I'm not sure it's worth doing. I've seen LG-81's running stable at 115C according to the Abit Guru software, but Speedfan reports 75C! I've had - in this order;

Zalman Northbridge Cooler - About 5C Cooler
Thermalright Active cooler - 15C Cooler
Akasa 40mm Blue LED Cooler - 10C Cooler
The Powered Northbridge cooler from an AA8 Duramax - 20C Cooler!
The Zalman Northbridge Cooler sitting under a Thermaltake Blue Orb - this is my current favourite setup I can run an overclocked 930 at 3.75GHz and the PWM temperature stays at about 70C. (35C Cooler!)

If you are lucky enough to have a Silverstone Sugo then the FX121 paddle cooler is great for cooling the PWM - but it doesn't fit with the Blue Orb - so I compromised as I really wanted it quiet and the Blue Orb is much quieter than the stock HSF.

Just noticed you particularly wanted info on the Aspire X-QPack - The Silverstone NT03 Horizontal cooler works really well in that case - it blows air directly over the PWM heatsink.
