I am quite taken with the new LG E2350V at below £200, before I lash out, does anyone have any issues with LG as a manufacturer or LG warranties, reliability of displays, anything LG.
I certainly have no real issues with LG as a company, but that isn't one of their best monitors I'm afraid. It is one of the poorer implementations of an LED backlight I've seen so far - the colours are very poor (with a very strong blue-bias) and ghosting is a real issue with this screen. Personally I think you'd be better off getting a Samsung if you want the best image quality, but if you don't want to spend that much (understandable) I'd be looking at BenQ's LED backlit screens. They are even better value than the LG and the colours are a bit better under direct viewing.
I've used an LG M227WD, which i bought for my sister, and i agree with PCM2 that it didn't look comparable to my Acer monitor. Colours were quite washed and contrast isn't that great. I'd go with a different brand. That was a year ago, not sure how they are doing now though.
I ended up buying a Samsung 1920 x 1200 monitor, with which, I am happy. I think that there is quite a lot of hype currently over the LED backlight monitors and I will wait until a few have been around longer and the street price has reduced somewhat. The Samsung ones look good but are not cheap.
I was perhaps overconcerned with uneven colours and bad pixels on this my first large LCD panel since converting from CRT. I went for a panel manufacturer with a good warranty and reputation. I also prefer the 16:10 format. I use a PC mainly for text based work like coding.
My slightly aging PC also has only AGP and although I have a quickish card ATI HD3650 it does manage to drive full resolution graphics in GT-R and similar games at a good frame rate for fluid action. There is no discernable ghosting. At first, I thought I had artifacts but the race was in wet conditions and it was raining.
