LG B9 OLED TV - Query about headphone sound

Hi All,

Just wondering if anybody can assist with a query I have.

Parents in law have just bought the above TV - Father in Law is a bit hard of hearing, so wants to use headphones while the Mother in Law listens via the normal TV speakers.

Have looked on Google and it appears with wired headphones you can do this - but the volume control for the headphones is hidden deep within the menus (TV volume control on remote control adjusts the main TV speaker output only).

Thus - it seems that it'll be a bit of a faff to control the Headphone volume while watching a programme due to having to go deep into the setting menu.

Now - would a pair of wired headphones with inline volume control work? So - Mother in Law can use TV remote to control normal TV speakers, and Father in Law can use the inline control on the headphones (so maybe set the TV Headphone volume in the menus on maximum or thereabout, and adjust the inline control to suit) - so he can change this easily without having to interrogate the main menus.

Thanks in advance for any help

I have a B9, if I can find some headphones with inline volume I can try it for you! Lemme have a look. :p

Thanks! That would be great - assume it'd need to be an analogue inline device rather than the remote type you get on phone earbuds - if you have an analogue set to test really appreciate your time doing this for me.

Hmm, dont think it works.

I plugged in some old apple headphones, set the sound to simultaneous TV speaker and wired headphones. The volume on the headphones does not do anything. The remote controls the TV speakers. The setting for headphone volume takes a few clicks into settings to reach.

Either doesnt work or the headphones are crap. (Or as you just mentioned above, analogue)

Let me see what else I have. :) Will also try my wireless Sonys

Yeah wireless/bluetooth headphones no good. Wont allow me to set TV speakers + bluetooth, only one or the other.

So can set TV speakers + wired headset with an analogue volume control should be good.

May need a long cable!

An analogue inline volume control will work, just set the TV setting to max, job done.

Cheers Peeps! Analogue control it will be - seen one on Amazon, and will then also get an extension lead.
