LG BH7420P puzzle!

Hi everyone! As you can see I have an LG BH7420P home cinema system. I was given a dvd with the region code 2.4.5 with the 4 in bold print. I attempted to play the dvd on my region 2 player and the message came up `check region code`and promptly ejected the disc, the snag is the player will now not play any region 2 discs at all. Every attempt brings the same error code message. I can`t help but think that somehow this error was triggered by the region 4 disc, any info would be appreciated! LG have suggested I send the unit to a service center. Once again any help would be greatfully received, many thanks Martin.

unplug the power cable to reset it
try playing a region free disc

Thanks for your suggestion! First thing I tried with no luck, also I had the lid off and cleaned the laser ( LG suggestion ) no luck! many thanks Martin.

Lost region code!

Odd thing this! On attempting to play a region B Blu ray disc the message reads "This disc can only be played on a region B player" Does this mean that the player now has no region code at all?
