Hi All,
I wonder if anyone has any thoughts about this issue (before I potentially just give up). I have a LG C2 (42 inch), which I use a PC ‘monitor’. My set up is PC GPU (via 2.1 HDMI) to HDMI 1 of the LG C2 and then a HDMI cable from HDMI 2 (eARC port) from the LG C2 to my AVR’s (Denon X1800H) eARC port.
I am no longer getting Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital when I play video files. I know these videos have these sound formats and I was getting Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital before. I have changed nothing on the LG C2’s settings that I am aware of. The crazy thing is that if a play a PC game that I know has Dolby Atmos (eg Baldur’s Gate 3) then the AVR plays the game as being in Dolby Atmos (shows it on the AVR screen). Therefore, the problem seems to be video files only!
I would also confirm the following:
However, if anyone has any other idea on how to resolve this, I would be extremely grateful.
Regards,
Alan

I would also confirm the following:
- All my settings in video players on my PC (Media Player Classic, VLC etc) are all ok and to confirm this I changed my set up to GPU - AVR – TV (from GPU – TV – AVR via EARC) and I get Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital shown on the AVR when I play the same video files. However, if I use GPU - AVR – TV I lose AMD Freesync Premium Pro (as the AVR does not pass this through) and possibly also lose Dolby Vision HDR (as I don’t think it passes that through either).
- The LG C2 is set to - Sound Out: HDMI (ARC) Device, HDMI: Bitstream, Digital Sound Out: Pass Through and eARC Support is switched on. As noted, none of that has been changed, the LG C2 has just stopped passing through Dolby Atmos or Dolby Digital for any video file that supports it!
- All HDMI cables are rated for Dolby Atmos etc via eARC (as advised it worked before). Not sure how long it’s not been working on video files, as a mainly play games, but it is probably only a few days at most.
- I have tried a different a HDMI port on the LG C2 (i.e. PC GPU (via 2.1 HDMI) to HDMI 4 of the LG C2 and then a HDMI cable from HDMI 2 (eARC port) from the LG C2 to my AVR’s (Denon X1800H) eARC port. I have then made sure that all the LG C2 sound settings are correct for this HDMI port. I have also tried different HDMI cables. Still nothing.
However, if anyone has any other idea on how to resolve this, I would be extremely grateful.
