LG C6 /G6

So this is what I see on mine

If I over expose it on the camera then the shapes are more visible

Just to mention, it’s best to have a fair amount of hours on the tv before looking at these tests.
I read elsewhere that if you do check this kind of thing you want to have put about 100hrs of screen time. As a lot of this can clear up over time.

On another note I watched the new movie Apex on Netflix last night in Dolby vision filmmaker mode, in a dark room and it looked pretty great, nice and bright image and some nice specular highlights really popped, the bright sunny skies were almost blinding at times.

I use that filmmaker ambient light sensor as well. Shouldn’t make a difference in a dark room, but I presume it helps in brighter rooms, good to have enabled.

Really impressed with the G6 so far.

I've seen on reddit some people saying HDR brightness is a bit broken on the G6 on both the PS5 and PC, but Switch 2 is not affected.

It seems to be an EDID issue, I've checked Windows and Windows thinks the G6 is a 10,000nit panel

Now that's problem one and it creates issues with HGIG looking darker than it should.

Problem number two: Color Booster doesn't work in game optimizer mode.

Here is a photo of my qd-oled gaming monitor playing this video

Notice the colours, particularly how vibrant the red neon sign is:

Now here is the same in game optimizer on the G6. What happened to the vibrant colours? See how the red looks orange and all the colours are dull, even the greens and yellows. Its because the colour booster tech isn't working in game optimizer

How do we know the colour booster isnt working? Because here is what it looks like when I enable filmmaker mode.
And I've just spent an hour trying every setting under the sun to try and make game optimizer looks closer to the image of film maker mode and I just cannot, the colours always looks significantly worse in game optimizer

The combination of the HGIG edid issue and the issue with colour booster means that currently HDR gaming is pretty much completely broken on the LG G6.

Does the G5 have these issues too? I don't know, but if LG doesn't fix this, I would say gamers should look at Samsung TVs

I hope Vincent from HDTV Test can bring this up in his next video because he didnt test any of this in his review and its a massive problem

They don't in the UK.
Yeah thats the problem with buying direct from LG in the UK now, in previous years they offered a good warranty but now its only 1 year for parts and labour, while it still has a 5 year panel warranty labour is not covered.
