LG c9 OLED

checks back - that was a 65 .... a 77 would definitely need child+adult protection.

a 77" seems to be a meter high , so if you were going for eyes in the centre that would be just 50cm off of the ground, which does sound a bit low....
there must be a different 'rule' with such a screen.

That sounds a bit too low...

I think as TV size increases, the perception of the image changes too (from my own experience).

I'm personally not a fan of the rule your eyes should be in the centre because if the shape of the headrest for you safe is slightly angled then the centre point of your vision will be different.

I do normally follow the rule of the centre of the TV should be eye level.. I have my TV like that now but I actually find I'm very slightly looking downwards despite being in a natural position.

I think where he has his TV is perfectly fine. Its people who have it above thier fire place which its wrong. I think his is well within the margin of error where it can actually be corre3ct.

You should just have it where you find it best for you. There is no set guide that’s fit for all everyone has their preference or even limitations that determines where it goes.

Mine is about eye level at centre depending how I’m sitting. More luck than judgement as the mount is as low as it goes as it was installed for my 55”...

I went for 10 cm higher than eye level for the centre of the screen when I'm sat properly. However we have a reclining sofa, so if you lean back the eyeline wouldn't be perfectly horizontal. I find that perfect for watching movies and pretty good when I'm playing video games standing up (switch games with movement).

(not starting the war again) but the bigger the screen the further you are like to sit from it, so you could justify having the mid point, above eye level, yet be looking up at the same angle as a lower, closer, smaller, set.

cabinet choice .. if you watch in the dark are reflections off of its top surface annoying ? so you need ventablack or velvet.

It depends what you have your Xbox set to output. If it’s PCM it will be 2 channel. I have mine set to bitstream DTS and I then get 5.1 through arc from the tv. Sounds fine to me....

I switched recently to DTS, but I'm getting the CX soon and that cannot pass DTS!

If I switched to say uncompressed 5.1 on the xbox would that pass down arc, I know eARC can pass most, but my receiver is not eARC compatible so wondering if it would still passthrough uncompressed 5.1.

Might have to revert to default stereo again otherwise.

How do you find VRR with the xbox, notice a difference?

Thanks

You cannot pass uncompressed 5.1 down arc with 4K and HDR there is not enough bandwidth. The Xbox will revert to stereo uncompressed. You can use Dolby digital instead to get 5.1. I use DTS as it’s slightly better bit rate compared to DD. You need eArc for uncompressed 5.1....

Tbh on the One X I don’t really notice any difference. Game mode on my 55” worked fine. I’m not a competitive gamer though other than the odd game of BFV for fun.

I see, so if I had all eARC chain I could send uncompressed 5.1 fine, I will switch to dolby for now then until i have eARC receiver(not for a while).

Yes with eArc you can just set the One X to Uncompressed 5.1 and the tv will pass it through to the eArc receiver. Saying that if you get a HDMI 2.1 receiver you may as well plug the Xbox directly into that.....

Simply you need a eArc or better still HDMI 2.1 spec receiver if you want uncompressed audio.

Im happy with my yamaha ysp2700 for the time being, still is cracking soundbar that does what I need.

I’m not replacing mine just to get Hd via eArc audio. I tried that with the Samsung 90r it was crap compared to the 2700 even with rear speakers. I will upgrade if Yamaha release a 2.1 2700 or if I send them enough email requests add eArc to the 2700..... lol

Has anyone manages to get their Google home to control the TV? Ie "Play archer on Netflix" turning TV on and starting archer on Netflix?

Just connect into soundbar and then use ARC to TV. No need for eARC then.

You loose ALL and VRR doing it that way as they are not supported on soundbar. If still using your B6 connecting to soundbar first is best as it only supports 2.0b as does the 2700.

Anyone know what the difference is between the PLA and MLB. Versions... Google is failing me, and LG's compare makes them look identical

The PLA has just gone out of stock at currys but they have the MLB in stock still

Mine's a PLA but not from Currys.

I think I may end up moving my centre speaker higher, now that I'm using it again it's quite noticeable that it's too low.
