LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Anyone experience a smell coming out of the back of the TV?

My new 48CX has it - seen posts elsewhere that it may go away after a week or two, or that the PSU may need to be replaced. Shame as it's otherwise a perfect panel.

Really need to see a CX in person with 120 VRR. I’m pretty vexed because a quick Google shows completely intolerable flicker which is apparently unfixable, but then plenty in here say they don’t notice? I feel like I’m going crazy.

A fair few posts in the CX thread on AVForums suggesting the flicker isn’t there either. It clearly is an issue, to be reported in the way it has, but not everyone is seeing it

Yeah seems that way, problem is I’m the type to notice and never unsee these kinds of things.

I think a fix is in the works for VRR that fixes this issue.

Its unfixable, a fundamental flaw in the hardware.

The bigger relief for me, with my PS5 arriving Thursday, is that the HDMI 2.1 chip issue (affecting nearly all 2020 AVR’s) isn’t an issue at all with the PS5, because it sends a compressed signal so can hit 4K/120Hz.

Given I bought the 65CX and 2700H purely for the PS5, to say I was miffed with both of these problems being reported was an understatement, but thankfully it looks like I’ll be ok on both sides

Just go and arrange to demo one and make your own mind up.

I've been looking for the issue but I haven't been able to see any flickering on my 55.
Not noticed any issue with black levels either.

The fact is, there is not a glaringly obvious fault with the CX that renders VRR useless.

I’ll wait for your results I think.

Just picked up a 65" CX for £1699 (£1799 less £100 off discount code) @ RGB.

Upgrading from a 55" C9 which we had on a corner unit but having recently wall mounted it, just wasn't cutting it, and at the price above I just couldn't help myself

Just ordered the 55" CX From Currys. I've had a 42" Sony Bravia for 6 years and it's been brilliant, but I've also had an Xbox One X for a couple of years so feel like I've massively missed out on 4K gaming. I wouldn't normally spend this much, but knowing this will last me for another 6+ years, the cost per year is reasonable. Now I just need to find an Xbox Series X in stock!

Realised that all my cables in my current setup are only HDMI 2.0 cables, completely escaped my mind that I'd need to upgrade a couple to 2.1 cables to get the benefit from my 2700H and CX with the PS5. Ended up spending £100 and replacing all my cables with 2.1 cables, just because my OCD would freak out if I had different cables :D

Went with the Ibra cables from Amazon as they look the part and I know they are decent as I used to have them before. £15 each for 1.8m and £21 for the 3m was pretty decent I thought. I did see a 3 pack of HDMI 2.1 cables with good ratings for £15, but again, the colours on each of the cable in the pack was different and that would have bugged me :D

So I am now properly ready for the PS5 on Thursday

That's interesting, I like to go for different colours so I can tell which wire at the back of the TV or AV Receiver is wich device

Yeah, that’s a more logical way of looking at it. My need for all cables to be the same is bonkers really, given they aren’t even seen unless I do some rewiring, but it just makes me feel good :p simple things in these times of lockdown!

Does anybody else think the inbuilt speakers on the CX are rather good ? i am playing the new COD game and i quite impressed with the sound they can produce.
I think they're very clear, especially for hearing speech, so for that I think they're excellent :)

Though as per all TV speakers, there's no bass and that's were an AV Receiver with decent speakers and a sub is essential for movies and games imho.
