LG G5

Mine had vertical lines out the box but ran pixel clean and hasn't been issue since. They I believe have been from the factory clean before having the peel installed.

You'll notice possibly getting same if you shut screen off and then wipe down and turn on it can sometimes leave similar lines and you just do a pixel refresh.

I find best to have it on but full black screen and then clean down with the microfibre and haven't had issue since then.
 
What’s the likely hood the G5 55” dropping below £1499? , that seem to be the current price with offers on.

Wondering how low the G4 went last year with the G5 imminent release.

It was on the John Lewis website under special offers on the tv page.

Tv was £1499 yesterday with the £100 discount.

I’ve just looked now and the price has shot up….

Edit: it seems the price has shot up everywhere now. The 55G56LS which is the one i want was around 1500 quid at all the usual retailers.

They’re likely raising the price for the imminent discounts to show a bigger saving. It’s £1899 at richer sounds now - absolute joke.

Yeah will wait then, Richer Sounds it comes with a free soundbar, but it depends if one wants one or not.
 
They were doing the soundbar before the price increase. So it’ll likely still be there when it drops again.

These prices will likely start dropping for Easter sales. They always bump the prices up ridiculously before dropping them.

Keep an eye out at Very too. They often do 20% back for existing customers and a new customers gets that off their first order.

Very have it for £1394 using a 10% code LG10.

They had 20% off of £1599 recently but I stalled and missed out.

I know you said good retailer but Very have always been good for me. The delivery service they use for TV has always been great and they’ve resolved issues quickly.

I went through a few exchanges on the C2 when I bought due to banding and it was very easy.

Thanks, the prices are up and down at present on the g5, all the retailers seem to follow suit.
Im still a bit tempted by the G6 despite the cost!
 
I got the 55" for £1079 last week with Richer Sounds price matching John Lewis. I haven't gotten around to playing around with it extensively yet but just shooting around in the Halo remake/remaster really shows how much brighter the highlights can get vs my old 48" CX.

I thought about going for the G6 but it doesn't seem enough of an upgrade. Plus I couldn't pass on the deal on the G5!
 
Well, I need to ring John Lewis… my G5 has developed a fault.

An odd one, this. I first noticed several faint dark horizontal lines/bands near the bottom of the screen during lighter scenes on Crunchyroll. Initially, I thought it was compression or possibly the Fire Stick, but they’re also visible using the TV’s built-in Crunchyroll app.

I then tried some colour-uniformity tests on YouTube and the same broken/segmented horizontal bands are visible on solid colours. They also start showing on greyscale tests from around 55% upwards.

The TV is always left plugged in so its automatic compensation cycles can run, and I manually ran Pixel Cleaning a few days ago, but it hasn’t made any difference. It was bought from John Lewis on 20 March 2025, so thankfully it’s still covered by their five-year guarantee.

It doesn’t look like normal burn-in as there’s no recognisable retained image or logo and it kinda phases in and out in blocks and at different angle s like some compression artefacts — but more like a panel-uniformity or compensation fault Has anyone seen anything similar?
 
If you guys wanna blast HDR in a game try Plague Tale Resonance. It's not the best HDR implementation and I had to tweak the black levels but god damn it's bright as all hell, like looking into the sun. Even with my room lights on and at their full 1800nits brightness, the TV still hurts my eyes in this game

I caved on a G5 65". Been wanting a new TV for a while (coming from a C8) but I needed to change my soundbar as well due to the Beam not working with multichannel PCM - which in total was more than I wanted to spend. Richer Sounds had the deal with an LG 5.1 wireless setup, it was too good to resist. I need to get the rest of the light strips on the back but they changed the connector on the newer strips so I had to order some adaptors. Cracking TV though, loving it.
 
Well, the TV just went click, shut itself down and is flashing 4 times on the led, no reset procedure is bringing it back to life, and its a month out of manufacturer warranty. Luckily I had a store warranty for 6 years so fingers crossed it will get sorted. missus not happy as strictly starts tomorrow night :p
