Just ordered a new C5 as Quidco have a frankly ridiculous 30% cashback offer on LG TVs just for today.
Very satisfying when you've had your eye on something for so long and finally grab a steal.
Nice. What size and how much?Just ordered a new C5 as Quidco have a frankly ridiculous 30% cashback offer on LG TVs just for today.

It says 2.25% for me. How did you find that deal?
EDIT: Oh, the retailer is Currys and not LG.
Yeah I wasn't sure what the rules are on OCUK for mentioning retailers as it used to be quite strict. It has tracked at 0.5% cash back but they said that's to be expected and the actual amount will be different (this is pretty standard for Quidco so not concerned)

Cashback is not paid on VAT
If we're precise it'd be 83.3% as adding 20% for VAT, to reverse it you'd remove 16.7%. Marginally in your favour!Yeah I assumed cash back paid at a rate of 30% on 80% of the purchase price.
Also when things go wrong Quidco have actually been very helpful in the past, so have some sort of peace of mind I will actually get it if something goes wrong.
I'll take it!If we're precise it'd be 83.3% as adding 20% for VAT, to reverse it you'd remove 16.7%. Marginally in your favour!

The C5 arrived and it’s the dream! Beautiful aesthetically and coming from an old HD TV it’s impossible not to be impressed with the display. Also Quidco tracked and updated at £300 cash back!
I haven’t had long to play with it yet so busy with work but the menu screens/technology is completely alien to me. I plugged my AV Receiver into the HDMI port that said something like eARC? Am I better off using the TV’s built in apps for all the streaming services or better off with my Fire 4K stick?
Cheers
It does not support DTS in any way shape or form. Most audio from built in apps is Dolby though, so they'll be fine. If you want DTS you'll need an external player connected to the receiver, which then connects to the TV. It's only really BluRays that need DTS. Even then, they have Dolby fallback, so it really depends on how much you care. That TV supports E-ARC, but check it supports DTS pass through- if it doesn't any DTS material will be sent as two channel PCM
I don't use apps, but I much prefer my generic Kodi Amlogic box for my own videos, codec support and general UI is better than the LG C9 I have.
If you use E-ARC you will lose OSD from your AVR displaying on the TV

IMHO using the TV for as much as possible, with the amp ARC'd off it is the best. It'll certainly be fine that way for all the streaming services etc.The C5 arrived and it’s the dream! From my understanding, the Firestick will not output DTS so that's not a concern. Thanks for the replies, very happy with the purchase. Also haven't noticed any dead pixels which is a relief.
At the moment I have the Fire Stick plugged into the amp and then HDMI going into the TV. It seems to be working fine, all the apps on the prime stick are outputting HDR 4K signal and it looks fantastic. Even Goldeneye looks great too!
Is there really any advantage to plugging the Fire Stick into the TV instead or using the TV's built in apps? I don't see the point if what I'm doing now works anyway. As for DTS I'm not hugely fussed, DD sounds great on my setup. I'm not even sure the Fire Stick supports DTS because if I'd have seen that as an option when I first got it I almost certainly would have selected that over DD (Denon AVR-S660H supports it).

If you plug the Firestick directly into the TV, and connect the amp via Arc, then you have the benefit of using the TV natively. So anything you watch on/via the TV, you can watch via the TV, or if you turn the amp on, the audio will automatically come out of the amp. Entirely down to your preference.
