Hi,

Did a search but couldn't find anything about his monitor on here so thought i'd post it.

I've just seen this on a competitors site for £160. It has some impressive specs:

# Dimensions (WxDxH): 43.5 cm x 22.6 cm x 37 cm
# Weight: 4.2 kg
# Diagonal Size: 19" - widescreen
# Max Resolution: 1440 x 900 (Widescreen)
# Colour support: Up to 16.2 million colors
# Image Aspect Ratio: 16:10
# Response Time: 5 ms
# Image Brightness: 300 cd/m2
# Viewing Angles: 160/160(H/V)
# Image Contrast Ratio: 2000:1
# Interface: DVI, VGA (HD-15)

For the price, and the fact that it has a 2000:1 contrast ratio and DVI makes it a steal.

Anybody got any more info on this?

Cheers

So, from the way that i interpreted that article, it can display a contrast ratio of up to 2000:1 for the specific image that it's displaying?

Still doesn't seem too bad, just one more monitor to add to the collection of 19" widescreens now available, making it harder for me to choose :(

I read a review of the 20" widescreen LG L204WT that also has the 2000:1 contrast mode and they said it was so annoying they turned it off. They said you could see the monitor constantly changing the brightness as the screen contents changed and it spoiled films.

Yes I read in PC Pro that it's best advised to turn it off. However I think with it turned off it still has 1000:1 which is still pretty good tbh.

All reviews I've read of the 20" have been excellent so I'm sure this monitor is just as good.

Yeh, i saw some comments about this screen on some other forums saying that it flickers constantly. Those people sent theirs back, probably not knowing that they could turn it off.

As you said, 1000:1 is still decent, i might even end up going for this.

But it's still a tough decision out of this, the Hyundai 19", the Belinea 19", the Hanns G 19", the Belinea 22" or the Belinea 20" :(

Where does it say the contrast ratio is 1000:1 with the DFC mode turned off? Not saying it hasn't but it sounds unlikely for a TN panel. Some comments about the screen in general here-

The Berlinea 22" has 1000:1 and that's a TN panel.

It's not official that it is but I did read somewhere that's what somebody said.

I've been reading up on this screen and it seems that its bigger brother, the L204WT seems to be getting great reviews and is also a cracking price. It looks like the 19" version has a 6 bit panel whilst the 20" version has an 8 bit panel. I'm kind of leaning towards the 20" as i think it would be a more noticeable upgrade coming from a 17" TFT.

Decisions, decisions....
