LG OLED Owners - Few questions

Hi all,

I think there's a few LG oled owners on the forum. If anyone can answer some questions I have about this set I would appreciate it.

Long story short, I'm looking at upgrading from a 42" Panasonic Plasma to a LG OLED (OLED55B7V) as they have dropped in price a bit

  • How noticeable is the image retention? As a current Plasma user, this is putting me off a bit
  • Has your set developed any dead/permanently lit pixels? If I do get this OLED it will be (by far) the most I've spent on a TV, therefore I'm a bit scared of spending £1500 on a tv and then find out it has dead pixels :(
  • Generally, how has the experience been?

I'm getting upgraded to Sky Q later on this month and have Netflix/Amazon subscriptions so will be looking to fully utilize the current and upcoming 4k content.

Cheers,

No image retention ever noticed on mine and I've gamed with static images on display for 8 hours at a time.

Dead/stuck pixels are a certainty on every OLED panel, I'd advise anyone with OCD not to check theirs up close if they think their set is free from them as you'll get a surprise. The thing is though they aren't at all viewable unless you're sitting 3ft away from the screen.

The experience has been the best I've had with any TV over the years and I've owned multiple near flagship models from each era.

Answers to your points.

Not noticed any IR
No
Best TV I have ever owned

I have a B6, you should not have any worries or doubts, you would be getting an excellent TV.

Not noticed any IR problems (I had a panasonic VT50 before that suffered badly from this).
No dead pixels, although to be fair I havent gone looking.
Great experience, I really like the interface, picture quality is stellar and I am on a 100% success rate so far of people going wow either when they first see the set it's self or when I get a 4k blu ray on (I have an E6).

Highly recommended.

Picked up a B7 best Tv I’ve owned, not noticed any IR or any other issues, I do feel as though the image looks a little darker sometimes when gaming.
But apart from that 4K films and games look awesome on it!

Thanks for the replies guys.

May I also ask where you've got the set from?

I hear Richer Sounds are pretty good when it comes to support etc, so may opt to go through them.

I got a C7 from Currys about 4 weeks ago.

Watched lots of Sports, done a bit of gaming, no image retention at all.

No dead pixels either and no sings of banding, the 55" panels seem to be less prone to some reported issues than the 65" panel.

Best IQ I've ever had on a screen, delighted with purchase. Tinkering with settings can make a huge difference but worth doing.

Get it and enjoy it!

My C7 65" came from Curry's a couple of weeks ago. No image retention or any other issues so far but I haven't gamed on it yet. It is without a doubt the best movie screen I have ever used. 4k, blu-ray and streamed films from Amazon all look superb. It's strange going back to blacks that are actually black from a Pioneer Kuro which was amazing for blacks to LCD's and now to this. Makes such a huge difference.

My E6V has no IR issues that i've noticed. it's a fairly new unit [Jan 2017] but it does a few self-cleaning cycles etc to try an combat issues like this.
dead pixels, i haven't noticed any, can't comment on the statement above that infers it's almost compulsory to have them. even if some appear i believe there are methods/utils that can reactivate/unstick them under certain circumstances. aside from that, i have a 6-year guarantee.

re screen burn, comments on the other forums suggest it's bright yellows that are a prime candidate for burning, if you're watching normal TV/films i doubt you'll have an option, but if you game a lot there something like a HUD element is static on screen for a long time, then the chances of you getting an issue will greatly increase.

as for general experience - the E6V screen is 'ing unbelieveably stunning. i don't game or watch normal TV on it, but Blurays like Gotham and John Wick are jaw-dropping, as is the 3D, but that's not an option for you.

The E6 is constantly cleaning, I know when it is as the RBG lights I've got hooked up to it don't go off straight away. So imagine all LG are the same :)

Had it 9 months now and still blows me away. Sound bar is great too for most situations.

I've got a 3 year old LG OLED, fantastic set and never noticed an issue apart from one botched firmware they released for it.

IR and screen burn aren’t covered by warranty. It’s a point that LG have been pulled up on many times.

Had my 1080p LG oled two years now and it's been fantastic.

Noticed some minor image retention a couple of times but it fully cleared.

No permanent screen burn or dead pixels, picture is every bit as good as the day I bought it.

Best TV I have ever owned.

Got mine from John Lewis, OLED55B7. No issues so far and the ultra hd image via Netflix and Amazon Prime is amazing. Try Godless on Netflix if you want to see stunning imagery utilizing HDR.

I noticed temporary IR on my c6 when using Xbox one dashboard but it quickly disappears , I also leave pixel shift on
