LG OLED tv

Looking for a decent tv and have been hanging my nose over this one, even got the Mrs to agree to spend 2.5k on a tv so need to know whether i get it or not?

Wants;
UHD or 4k
Thin
3D not essential but if it is then passive
Great Blacks/contrast
Curved would be nice

Appreciate that the OLED is lacking some of these but would my 2 n half grand be better going on it rather than a 4k, would i massively notice the lack of 4k/UHD?

Or do i wait till the next batch in March? i believe these are going to have 4k & curved options but will they be outside my price range?

I personally would wait for the pricing of LG's next OLED which is 4k. If it's silly money, fall back on your other choices ( http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/65ec9700-201501193990.htm ) seems pricey! There might even be second hand LG OLEDs by that point as well you can guarantee no faults / issues then and still have warranty left on them.

Failing that, you could try a second hand VT65 plasma and if you defo want 4k, I'd probably go with hdtvtest.co.uk's review reference level 4k set, which I think is currently the Panasonic AX802? Unless there's now a better choice.

Would there be a huge noticeable difference with the oled not having 4k vs a UHD or 4k set? Except If I was viewing a native 4k source.

I stood in Curry's with the LG 55" OLED next to a Samsung 4K screen at the same price, the LG looked better at normal viewing angles. It was only when up close to the screen did the benefits of 4K start to become noticeable.

I've ordered the LG, however I only paid £1900 for it on Boxing Day.

Aye, but I still don't have it yet, keep getting updates from the supplier though. First one on the 7th saying I'd have an update by the 19th, then another on the 18th.

Is it the 55EC930V?

Saw one in Costco the other day and the viewing angles were insane, could clearly see the picture at near right angles, picture looked decent too.

John Lewis had it down to £1999 for around 3 weeks before Christmas. I'm not sure why there were such heavy discounts as now I can't find anywhere less than £2499.
