LG v Panasonic OLED ... I'm looking for recommendations

My 11 yar old 42" Panasonic Plasma died last night, two weeks after all the good deals ended. Great. Anyway, I'm torn between gettingan LG OLED55B8S (currently £1194) and the Panasonic TX55FZ802B (currently £1449). I've read that the Panasonic is closer in performance to the LG C8 than the B8, so might be worth the extra..? But that's at my maximum budget. Any thoughts?

I would not touch an LG OLED till they fix this

At CES Samsung were showing off their micro-LED technology. Might be worth taking a look at that.

I don't think Samsung has released any micro-LED TV's yet..
And I can see them costing far more then £1500 when they are released

If it were me and the pioneer plasma dies I'd probably just get a LCD for now.

philips 803 comes into your budget and worth a look,

Avoid Philips like the plague, that's the main thing I'd stress above anything else.

You haven't mentioned your expectations or use cases, so it's hard to help. If you expect serious longevity from your new TV, I'd question the OLED choice, first of all.

I got the LG C8 before Christmas to replaced my 10 year old plasma and its blown me away, the picture quality is amazing I've had zero issues so far.

LG have confirmed the fault and are working on a fix.

Fixable in firmware or hardware problem that can't be fixed in software?

Since the firmware update relates to the TVs’ picture quality, it will have to go through an especially stringent testing process before rolling out to TVs. LG estimates that this could take as much as three or four months.

They need three or four months to release the Firmware fix

yup same here, which size did you get, 65" for me, was a bit nervous putting it on the wall lol but the bracket is holding so far

Life’s Good is all a con, OLEDs are so flawed you must stick with the perfect LED tech.

Thanks guys, i picked up the Panasonic TX55FZ802B yesterday. I've run some Bluray and 4K discs to test and am blown away so far.
