Hey guys,

My monitor came today and I was wondering if anybody knows the settings I should use for it? It's currently just using the out of the box settings.

Thanks :D

There is a program called fortemanager for LG monitors which has some pretty good presets, you could give that a go.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping really that somebody had actual settings that worked for themm, that I could try.

And thanks, first thing I made sure was the cable and 120Hz! :)

OK, here are my settings

thru mode - on
brightness - 30
contrast - 50
gamma - 0
red - 40
green - 33
blue - 36
sharpness - 2 (though you may prefer 3, the rtc (overdrive) sharpens everything a tad too much and I prefer slightly not sharp enough to slightly too sharp which is what you get with 3 :D )
rtc - on

Download monitor calibration wizard

http://monitor-calibration-wizard.software.informer.com/download/

run it and tick the check boxes
"load at windows startup" and "persisten profile"
click on "run wizard", keep clicking continue until you get to the "review profile" page.
Move the brightness slider down until you get a gamma of 2.2 in the centre of the screen

mine is set to -1.2 brightness, and save that profile and load it up.

This will introduce slightly more banding but it will sort out the gamma which is too high on this monitor, (colours appear washed out) :D

Obviously every display is different but you can use my settings as a starting point :D

This'll be handy for messing around too :D - http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

Hope your happy with your monitor mate, you made the right decision :D

OK my LG W2363d arrived this morning and i'm just setting it up. Thanks Clippa for these settings, it definitely looks better than out of the box.

I can't get that calibration program to work though, I downloaded it and it just doesn't do anything.

My woe at the moment though is I cannot change the contrast setting. When I enter the menu I can edit the brightness but pressing set doesn't do anything to take me to contrast and gamma etc. I've no idea why this doesn't work as the set button works on all other settings.

If it's greyed out then there's probably another setting you have enabled that's overriding it. Make sure auto-brightness is off and so on it'll be something like that :D

Yeah dunno what happened there, got the contrast and everything else setup now. Put it in thru mode, can definitely notice the lack of input lag and the quick response time in Quakelive.

120hz should be working, used the supplied cable, checked in windows its set to 120 and in nvidia driver. One question I have though is... Do I need to have display scaling turned off in the nvidia driver? I read that scaling can limit refresh to 60hz. Would be good if that isn't the case as I like having a 4:3 ratio for Quaking...

Cheers
:-)

You check by pressing 'Set' as monitor will then briefly display the connection type, refresh and res in top right corner. :)

Yeah, use the "set" button if you're not sure, and if a game doesn't support 120hz no matter what you do, make a custom resolution in you gpu's control panel, mine is 1919x1080 @ 120hz. This is so you have a unique resolution that is 120hz only and can't be set to 60hz so if you tell a game to use that resolution, it'll be forced to use 120hz.
Driver san francisco is one such game.
