Lg27gn950 very hot screen

Just purchased a lg27gn950 and the screen gets very hot to the touch, its hottest in the center getting cooler towards the corners, its hot at the back but not as hot as the screen. I can feel the heat coming off the screen when putting hand 4 inches from it. I have hdr on and brightness is at 80.

I haven't had an ips panel before, is this normal or should I return it?

That doesn’t sound normal although you have brightness cranked up very high there if you have HDR on all the time. What about if you disable HDR for a bit and set brightness to something much lower? Does it still get hot then?

Is this also only happening at the mo when gaming or just general use?

Baddass is correct, they do get quite warm.

Mine gets warm when HDR is on - played Doom at hdr 160hz and monitor was very hot.

What do you expect, when you have backlight at "eyeballs smoking in their sockets" level and then use LCD matrix to block that to avoid face getting burned?
That's like having big bonfire going in front of you.
