So my friend wants to get an Oculus Rift but is on a serious budget.
His Rig is currently an i3 3225 (dual core, no hyper threading) and a R9 290x. 8GB RAM

I think his GPU will work. probably as low as you want to go but I think it's suffice to get going.
Luckily his Mobo is a Z77 and he already has a Hyper Evo cooler.

So for a budget, what second hand CPU should he go for and I'll overclock it for him. I was thinking a 2500k or something like that is cheap and decent enough for VR. That will make a huge difference running at >4.3Ghz compared to his i3 and should enable him to get the Oculus.

Thoughts? Remember cheap cheap cheap.

It depends if he wants to overclock it, if it does then the I5 3570k or I5 3570 if not.

Its going to be about £75 for the K version vs £50 for the vanilla so worth checking if he's going to overclock it.
