LGA 1156 / 1366 cpu cooler question

I think I may have made a bit of an error when I ordered a cooler for an I5 750, ordered the Akasa Nero AK-967.

I thought the 1366 and 1156 would use the same spec coolers but after looking at the mounting points this does n't seem this is the case.

Could anyone clear this up for me , are they the same coolers or have I messed up here?

The 1156 use different mounting holes to the 1366 socket so you'll have to make sure that the cooler has 1156 compatibility in the future. Although there are some 1156 motherboards with LGA775 mounting holes.

Thanks for clearing that up , looks like I messed up. Seems its compatible with every chipset going apart from the 1156! Dont know why they did nt make brackets to fit but oh well , live and learn I guess!

I've actually ordered the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 earlier today after I realised the mistake , there really seems to be a lack of 1156 coolers on the market compared to other chipsets.

Cool. That's a pretty decent cooler mate.

Yeah , i am a little surprised that one of the big names has not released a reasonably priced cooler for the 1156 as im sure they'd make a killing as you said good 1156 coolers are a little scarce for my liking.

It is surprising there still aren't that many 1156 coolers, it's been out quite a while now. I guess the shops are still working through their existing stock and when they re order the new stock will have 1156 support too.
