Hey guys & girls,

I've recently joined the overclockers forum in search of an answer to my predicament. I have recently updated from a core 2 duo E8400 to a i7-920 and I am hoping someone can help me figure out if I am able to use my old heatsink (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR) with my new motherboard.

I know it wont just fit in but I have heard that you are able to buy brakets that allow old 775 heatsinks to work with 1366 sockets. Currently I cant find any that support my heatsink but I am hoping if someone can point me into the right direction. If I am unable to get a braket for my heatsink could you please link me to a good budget heatsink that will fit.

Thanks in advance =]

I don't think that heatsink can cope with an i7. If you take a look at the intel heatsink it appears to have doubled in size since the 775 days.

My guess is no, you're going to have to get a new cooler. Bad luck. Titan fenrir is loved around here as the cheap option for overclocking, if you're not overclocking the stock heatsink may be fine

Thanks for your fast reply, for now I am keeping it at stock clock speed but I will be OC it in the future maybe within less than a year. =]

There's your answer then. Titan fenrir is very popular, but it is beaten on temperatures and noise by the bigger players. Thermalright true / noctua / the megalems one are the favourites if you can fund them

Freezer 7 will burn up with an i7. It didn't really cope with my Q6600 very well.

Fenrir if you don't care about noise. TRUE or Megahalems with Noctua fan if you do.

Have a look at the Corsair H50. It is unbelivlbe good with i7 proccesers. Mine is happy at 4.0 with it. At stock it would be a great silent cooler. IMHO the frezer 7 was a great cooler but it cant handle i7
