I have decided to upgrade my haswell-e setup to a 12700k, I will need a new waterblock to add it to my current loop.

the lga1700 blocks from ek are looking to be end of November or later so like everyone I don’t want to be looking at an expensive pile of hardware until then.

So my thinking based on the new ASUS boards having lga1200 as well as the new lga1700 mounting holes is actually just purchasing a ek velocity and mounting up like that on the 1200 mounting holes? The lga1700 mounting kit from ek looks to only have a bracket and no change to spacers so the new Z height should also be ok?

Do i sound like I’m on the right track?

IIRC the EK blocks are pressured by a spring that screws down so the new Z shouldn't make that much difference to the overall mounting setup. You might lose a bit of potential cooling due to the chip itself being slightly larger but the die itself is still going to be covered in the right place by the new mounting bracket most likely.
Shouldn't be a problem to just get the velocity and a new bracket when it's available.

EK has launched new lga1700 blocks, pre order now they're coming next month
I am aware but it is just me being a bit impatient as they are estimated at the end of Nov and judging by previous ek experience id be surprised if they landed on time. Cant have shiny new hardware collecting dust for 4 weeks
