LGA775 Backing plate

Do LGA775 boards need a backing plate when mounting a waterblock ?

My DS3 didn't. A washer between the board and the nut is needed ofcourse.

Nope, LGA 775 boards do not need a back plate, granted some come with them, but the hundreds of intel and msi boards my companys shiped through....none have

Althought its quite scary, as the stock cooler tends to physically bend the motherboard a bit.

Never personally had an issue with this thou.
