Just put an order in for a nice i5 upgrade from ocuk

I was wondering if my existing cooler - Scythe Infinity/Mugen CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) would fit the LGA1155 socket?

Most of the coolers in the 155 section of ocuk also say LGA775 so have the mounts remained the same?

I'll use my Scythe instead of the stock cooler if so.

thanks!

The mounts are different.

If you are using a Asrock 1155 motherboard, then this does also have mounting holes for the older LGA775 coolers, as well as the newer 1155 mounting holes.

No the mounts aren't the same,

Most coolers cover the different sockets because they have adjustable fittings.

If your cooler isn't compattible with LGA1155 or LGA1156 (they're the same) it won't fit.

The only exception to this is some ASRock boards which have additional holes on the motherboard so that you can use an LGA775 cooler on an LGA1155 motherboard. The cooler just fits at a jaunty angle due to how the holes have had to be placed.
