Lian Li A7110 Alternative?

Which is better :

PC-B70 : 2mm aluminium sidepanels and sound proofing. plus has built in fan controller. Can take 7 drives in main bay, 3 in top bay. 2x140mm 1200rpm intakes, 2x120mm 1500 rpm outtakes.

PC-A70F : Only 1.5mm alum panels and no soundproofing (A71F has 2mm panels). Newer tooless psu mounting, newer HD mounting, rubber padding on optical mounting bracket, opening on bottom of HD cage, cable management clamp included.

Looks like the A71F might be the one to get ?

B70 doesn't have any sound proofing, if you showed that nonexisting foam to any acoustic designer he would laugh himself to death.
Also that fashionable tray using main HDD cage is neither that good acoustically or airflow wise.

A70 and A71 are same design except for door so I don't think there's any difference in side panel thickness between them and increasing thickness would be more effectively done by adding different material layer (like in Antec P-serie) instead of just increasing thickness and weight of single layer by half. (couple mm layer of bitumen is lot better for that)
And acoustically there really isn't any comparing between them because of A71's door blocking direct noise escape path.

If you really do want a A7110 and nothing else will do, there's a B-grade one in the in the clearance section at the moment, I suggest phoning or sending a web note to find out what's wrong/missing with it. I will stick by my original recommendation though (if it has any bearing on the validity, please note I have a PC-A71A).

Whats the cable management behind the motherboard tray like on the A71F I wonder ? I see from looking at pics the tray doesn't even have holes cut out for atx and 8pin cables which is pretty common now.

Just got my LL-A71FB, moving over from an antec 1200, unfortunately its that damn big I cant use it yet, lol, move into my new flat next week where Im gonna have more space incl bigger desk so if you havent already gone ahead Ill let you know how I find it

So you have had a B70 then ? Reason I ask is the HDD cage looks like the same mounting mechanism in the Lian Li PC-P80 which I found very quiet. How do you know the foam on the side of the door is crap ?

Would have dropped it to the end of an option list after short checking if it had been available when I was doing that studying. (for three to four months)

Mountings aren't similar, P80 has simple rubber grommet screws, B70 slaps HDD into light metal tray so they're kinda sabotaging it/shooting themselves to leg. (that tray is already vibrating along the drive... besides increasing size of airflow obstackle)

This thing is Akasa Crapmat:

The Akasa Paxmate is far too light, way too thin and has too low a density to meet any of the criteria set above... It is unlikely that applying this product could have any significant impact on the noise of any PC in any case. Anyone with the least bit of understanding of acoustic damping will come to that conclusion in a 30-second examination. Not recommended.
