Would anyone spec me a regular, mid-range, tower-type Lian Li case that will take the newer and longer graphics cards - 4870, GTX260, etc? I'd like to get one soon and also have some future-proofing. It's for sitting on the floor using a full size mobo, i.e. not for htpc, etc.

My present Lian Li case has seen sterling service for many years but it's not long enough for stuff these days and the cooling (a few 80mm fans) isn't really sufficient for modern stuff either. But what nice cases these are, though. Time for an upgrade!

TIA.

Yea, budgets a fairly massive factor here so letting us know how much you want to spend would be really helpful.

I personally have a PC-A07B which I really like (click my sig to see photos and such). Its the cheapest Lian Li case on here but is still great.

For around £100 you could get a PC-7FW which was my second choice. Read plenty of reviews and all seemed very positive about it. Looks great and has some great features too. It can be found on other sites for around £80 without the window as well!

A few others which I quite like the look of and seem to have good features, but Ive not read up much about them (mainly as they're outside my budget :( )

PC-A70B

PC-V2010B

PC-B71B

The B10 looks interesting. I think it looks classy but the only problem is it's yet to reach retail and will probably command a £150-200 price mark.

For fitting long graphics cards without needing to worry about blocking anything else/not having good working space, no matter how full rest of the case/device bays are, you need E-ATX case.
How's this for space difference?

That's feature you don't find on cheaper end of range but neither do you need to go to high end of price scale but only to about mid way:
A70 and A71 are both cheap for their size/features.

Just reading is quite useless, mostly pictures tell lot more than texts of reviewers whose primary interests/references you don't know.

Sorry not to mention budget specifically. I said "mid-range" but that was a bit vague and anyway could just have meant features. I was thinking of up to 120 squids but less if poss. Anyway, thanks for the replies everyone. The A70 looks tasty and is "E-ATX" (thanks EsaT) so perhaps I should increase my budget for it.

Quite a few cases to look over here. I am thinking of going for Lian Li again because my present Lian Li case has been a top performer since about 2001/2002 and you can't ask for more than that, imho. If i recall it was about 115 squids at the time so probably nearer 150 in today's money.

Couple high end desktop/gaming motherboards like Intel Skulltrail and EVGA Classified are E-ATX sized and it's hard to know will that size become more common for high end mobos so beside guaranteed space for long graphics cards with working space left that's one future proofness point for E-ATX.

Beside that there's lot to like in A70/71 design:
Working easy to use soft mounting for all ten HDD bays which is also compatible with all 2.5" HDD/SSD adapters. (two SSDs into one 3.5" bay)
PSU on bottom which is the coolest place inside case.
More freedom in cabling than in dual chamber cases and no bay usage restrictions caused by need for separate intake airflow of motherboard chamber. (use all 5.25" bays in V1010/2010 and motherboard chamber doesn't have any intake)
In case of hotter components you can get additional expansion card cooling kit and attach normal fan to graphic card support pillar similar to this for cooling DIMMs and chipset.
Or in case of wanting to try watercooling top can take up to triple radiator.
Also as you'll be keeping case on floor A70's controlled airflow and easy to clean dust filters should come handy. (same as in A7010, after 1:15)

I think I'll ask at least full decade from my A71.
Considering trend in cases and my requirement list formed in fair 15 years of PC hobbying it might even end up as permanent case for as long as it lasts.
