So managed to get my hands on some cheap Xeons after selling my i7 rig which sort of stopped me spending all my money on an SB-E rig.

After lots of measurements I came to the conclusion that the huge HTPX motherboard will fit!! :D

I did want to at a minimum have water-cooled CPU's however I need to put the PSU in the roof which means I cant fit a 240 rad let alone a 360 rad, and since I had a h50 already I figured I might as well use that, long term I might look to put a 480 in the base and get the case on casters.

Heres some of the first pictures I manged to take.

Size comparision case vs mobo box!

Case all stripped down ready for more work to be done on it. Needed to add a couple of extra standoffs for the mobo apprently EVGA give you some plastic supports but i didnt seem to have any, so drilled some proper ones anyway.

Case before new fan caddy added to it.

Lian Li EX-36B1 this is is soo cool mounts for 2x 2.5 drives and 3x 3.5 drives I changed the fan in mine to an Xigmatek 120mm Crystal Red specs looked pretty good out of the box so we shall see how it performs, caddy was also helpful to get the extra airflow into the case that I needed.

Bare xeon socket needed to remove it so I could take the Xeon backplate off it to fit my h50 backplates lucky EVGA do include the normal backplate.

Parts wise this is the plan:
Pair of Xeons: gone for 2 ES E5607s for now hopefully upgrade to a pair of X hexs next year.
Ram: 16gb Kingston blu got this cheap on a deal the boat will support dual channel but long term I would like to go to 24gb and tri chan
Storage: 2x OCZ agility 3's 1x 60gb (os) 1x120gb also got a 1tb for local disk and 9tb of networked drives in a server.
GFX: ATI 5870 hopefully look to upgrade when the 7xxx comes out.
Case: Lian Li PC-G70B
PSU: Enermax Gallexy 1kw.
Cooling: 2x H50 if i can get another
Fans Stock H50 and Xigmatex Crystal

Well got this built up last night got some pictures to upload but its not quite in its finished (tidy) state.

Spent ages scratching my head as to why it would not post, turns out with both 6pin pci-e powers and 8pin ATX for each of the CPUs was too much Ampage draw on post and set the alarm off on my Galaxy which was somewhat confusing....

Pics to come soon! not sure I am 100% happy with it at the moment its rather loud.. or should I say I cant get it as quite as I'd like. but on the plus side it is averaging about 25-30deg over the 8 core and its been installing steam and win updates for the last 10hrs...

Haha.. Ok Ill upload some now and will need to get some more done when I finish sorting the cabling out!

EDIT: Pictures!

Ive been playing games on it today and so far have not seen the cpus go over 50 deg 100% load in 3D mark11 will run the bench properly later and get some numbers up :)

Just need to get that Dam Antec Kuhler quiet....

Yeah i am surprised how much space there is in it!

Panyan, did you not chain one of the fans off the pump? also did you set the pump fan header to 100% in the bios? and finally does yours make a buzzy sort of noise(might be air) mines been making strange noises and been running for a number of days now, starting to think other than the tubes the h50 is better.

Thanks guys will hopefully tidy up the cables over the next few days, but looks like a new psu is required so it might go on hold, then its time for some lighting! :)

Finally An update.

PSU just didnt have enough power :( so yesterday I bit the bullet and get the OCZ ZX1250 it has a silly amount of power for its £ and should be good for any future changes in config.

Case stripped of old PSU ready for the new one.

Testing and at this point my 24pin extension had to arrived current NZXT one was pants could not get the pins to line up, so ordered a red phoyba one.

It arrived!

Wish I had a good camera. :(

Also you might see that the fans off the h50 and 620 have been changed for xigmatek's now too will be interesting to see how they perform since I have put the pumps on 12v now and the fans are both on headers.
