Hi All.

Bought the above AIO from OCUK about a week ago and it has an awful coil whine coming from the pump housing which can be heard when simply moving the mouse around or scrolling, at first I thought it was my GPU playing up (Brand new 5080) but on putting that in another machine the GPu is silent.

anyone experience coil whine from an AIO?

If I gently squeeze the plastic house around the AIO pump the whine seems to go away... and before anyone asks no its no pump noise its more like electrical static.

Video of the noise below

The fact that moving your mouse cursor affects the noise is bizarre. Can you set the pump to fixed RPM and also turn off the screen and then see if the mouse still affects the noise

I have the same issue with this pump. Having previously had the Lian Li Galahad 360, the coil whine on this is unbearable with near silent case fans making it all the more noticeable

I have a similar issue, and I've learned to live with it. I thought it was my graphics card but nope - it seems to be related to the combined power draw and power profile of all components in the build.

Ok, I have been seeking a solution to the noise issue without going to the return option.... I have now set my AIO pump speed to a constant 2300RPM which is the highest I can tolerate it when ambient noise is relatively quiet. Ideally the speed curve for PWM would be more adjustable to afford tracking temp of CPU better but this is not adjustable (as far as I can tell in the Lian Li 3 software).
SO 2.3k RPM seems to strike the right noise (where it is barely audible and still cools the CPU sufficiently.

Yeah i have found certain rpms can cause noise
Though usually it's vibration or resonance
Not had one ever with coil whine
Does make me wonder if the screen is a factor

Thanks all for your feedback. Been waiting for Lian Li to send a replacement. after sending them this video they didn't even argue and organised a RMA, although its taken almost 5 weeks to come from overseas.. installed the new one today and the same issue is happening.. guessing having all of those electronics inside the pump housing is going to cause some kind of EMI... I'll let this one bed in for some time to see if it goes away...

Again though... as with the last one... if I gently squeeze the plastic housing around the LCD the buzzing goes away completely.. leads me to think its a design issue with the plastic shroud.

Did they let you keep the faulty one?
Be interesting to connect it
Out of the pc case
See what happens then
And remove the screen surround if its still doing it
To see if that cures it
Still thinking along the lines you are
That it's vibration/resonance
Only other thing with pumps would be impeller imbalance
But doesn't sound like that

Yes they did, planned on sticking it into my VR PC tomorrow and doing exactly that. Will report back in case it helps anyone else out.

May be easier to mess around with it
If you jump the psu or use a spare psu if got one
Laying around somewhere
And connect it outside the case
People should actually do it
When they first get an aio before installing it really
Even brand new hardware can be DOA
It can save having to fit it then remove it etc
Should it turn out to be faulty or DOA

I guess us custom watercooling guys
Are more familiar with doing this though
Than the average aio buyer is
