lian li mobo layout

Im looking for a case to use with about 3 harddrives (all water cooled), chipset watercooling, memory watercooling, gpu water cooling and cpu phase cooling. now i do like the lian li v1000 however the odd mobo layout is a bit off putting. i was wondering if this would interfere with my setup and if so is there another similar case, preferably the same kind of styling (in black) that would suit me better?

thanks

also with the wrong fan configuration the v1000 is also a quick way to cooke everything in your PC :/

(yep still not entirely happy :()

was planning on no fans - just psu one :) everything else will be WC'd and cpu will be phase cooled.

was thinking of using the asetek waterchill Xternal system which apparently is powerful :) also I could put 2 loops in i suppose. whichever is more effective really.

well i like the idea of an external solution, as an internal solution means radiator inside = less space = more heat etc. or else i'd have to custom mount the radiator outside the case which im not generally very good at! WCing the HDDs wouldn't be too hard, just shove in a couple of HDD blocks and voila - also HDDs will be in 5 1/2 inch bays. I don't want any fans except for the psu fan, as i dont like them - fans = dust lol!
I'd like to WC the NB as it can get hot and it makes heavier OCing more stable and as im going to have phase OCing is a must!

any views on the asetek external system? Or custom building a system with EASY external radiator mountings?

thanks

would that involve some hole cutting?
the only reason i'd go with an internal solution and not something like the Xternal, is if people convinced me enough (or just told me) that having the NB, mosfets, ram and HDDs on the same loop as my gfx would significantly affect the cooling performance of it.

thanks

ok in that case would you suggest 2 loops? and if so what blocks on each loop considering we need: ram, gpu, hdd x 2, NB and mosfets?

im guessing i would be better off with 2 loops and not the xternal then.

thanks

but i dont want a fan. please yewen, i appreciate what you are saying but i'd like them to be watercooled. i'd just like to know what blocks to put on which loops, and also how would i mount the radiator on the lian li case?

thanks

my cpu is going to be phase cooled. i dont mind pipes going outside case, but cba to build a rad box. dont really want to cut holes in my case. and harddrives will be mounted in 5 1/2 inch bays.

my pipe for phase will come from bottom through the HDD bay at the bottom. I could mount a small rad blowing air out the front in the HDD bay...also might put pumps there.

any more ideas guys?!

mobility - not really an issue
i do care about looks, but pipes outside = fine.

thanks for your help so far guys

sorry if i was unclear. my phase will go underneath the case, nothing will be in the HDD bays. i dont have the case yet as this will be a future build, am just trying to get a final idea going!
a larger case is possible and if someone case suggest another case i would consider it, however i would appreciate one which has a similar styling to the lian li case.

i will be using whatever tubing is the best, i dont really know what is the best at the moment - if you could help it'd be great!

i dont really want to cool the mosfets, i only would if necessary - im guessing if i have no airflow in my case, any mobo will require its mosfets cooled or am i incorrect?

i like option 2. are there any rads like this that have a case of some sort to allow me to just lay it on top of my case?

thanks for your help

well i was planning on getting a raptor, and i have heard they run hot, also it is piece of mind that they are nice and cool. it won't restrict flow much if i put it on the same loop as my NB though would it?

also do all mobos need mosfet cooling?

thanks

i was going to try a watercool silentstar for the harddrives, as it should keep the noise down.

well i mean do they need extra cooling considering there will be no air flow in the case?
thanks

ok ok, i've got the watercooling almost sorted now - last Qs:

2 loops - definate
2 pumps - definate
how many rads? im thinking 1 big one for graphics, and 1 small one for everything else.

also I have finally been convinced I will now have 2x 120mm slow fans in the case. where should i place rads in the lian li.

also....WHICH CASE??!?!!!?! lian li, or something else?

thanks

i see your point, but i definately want to WC ram and NB, end of.

also what do you guys think of the lian li v1000 case with the koolance evo system built in? this would eliminate cutting, give me a 120.2 rad and therefore 2x 120mm exhaust. i'd mount a 120.1 rad on the back in place of the case 120mm fan, then that is an exhaust too. put a 120mm on the front of the case with maybe the HDDs in front of it in the lower bay. however this would create a lot of suction and with the case having lots of holes in the front i can see dust is going to be a problem. anyone know a way round this?

thanks

daven

i asked on xtreme forums too and they didnt seem to like the system. the only gripe i have is having 3x 120mm exhaust fans and 1 intake is too biased isn't it? will cause lots of dust to come through the holes.

yes next question:
how to stop the dust getting through the holes at the front of that case?!

thanks

nah am going for the V1000 but put a custom WC system in, with a 120.2 rad on top for the cpu and gfx loop, slightly raised to allow airflow. a 120.1 rad on the back for the chipset loop. and 1/2" or 7/16" tubing on the cpu /gfx loop and 3/8" on the chipset loop.
- cheaper than the koolance and better too!!

thanks for all your help guys

daven :)
