I’m going to get a Lian Li PC-7[B ?] and would appreciate advice on what the current design is.

Second Edition 111.

I can post more pics but I'm not sure if the German site is a competitor or just a Forum. Some of you will know the case in question.

Which designs are available in the UK. This one presumably isn't.

The PC7 comes in Silver, and Black, PC7 is silver, PC7B is black.

That model is in the UK, and from OcUK, it just doesn't come with the fan you can see behind that grillo n the side panel, that's an extra cost item from LianLi, and Ive found it hard finding one in the UK...I gave up and ghetto mounted a fan their instead.

The fan that comes with it on the side is pretty poor anyway, so needs replacing.

Not really worth the money imo, ghetto mounting should work just as well.

Takes a fair amount of heat from my gaphics card. BlueTac + BagTies = Winzor!! :p :D

No noise from it, unless I have it full speed, and it aids the cooling of the graphics, very handy little fan :) The BlueTac avoids vibration, and the ties hold it there.

Thanks guys.

There seems to be a ‘111’ in silver and a ‘11’ in black.

I prefer the black and I suspect that there is very little difference if any, apart from the colour, between the two.

The side fan won’t do any harm especially with a second Lian Li 120mm on the front which I’m inclined to install.

Would a second front intake fan with the side fan as outake make sense.

InvG, do you have that side fan as an exhaust or an intake?

I still havent done mine yet as the cable wont reach my fan control and i'm too lazy to extend it lol

Well I have mine as follows;

1x120mm Akasa Amber IN - front
1x120mm Akasa Amber OUT - rear
1x120mm LianLi Stock OUT - side

Which seems to keep the PC at a decent temp.

The only reason I have the side out though is because I have 3xHDD in my rack, so the front fan can only cool them, and not the whole case, leaving my graphics card rather warm. Setting the fan to put air onto the graphics card increases the temps of it as it disrupts the airflow. It also cannot flow air to the CPU, as the graphics card is in the way, along with the sound card and TV capture card. Having it on out also means that technically it's stopping the hot air from getting to the CPU (if it does or not I don't know nore care :p).

If you mean you want to have a front drivebay 120mm in, then I'd say go for it, as the lower fan will cool the HDDs, and the upper one will give airflow to the CPU cooler. :)

Answerd your Q before I knew you'd posted it. :)

I’ve seen a spec 111 in Black and I think the difference between it and the 11 is that the 111 comes complete with the side fan : BS-02.

OCUK still spec the case as having 1 x 120mm and 1 x 80mm fan which is well out of date.

Judging by their price I suspect it is not the 111.

If they get the 111 in stock hopefully the spec will be updated.

I got a PC-7 II+ from OcUK a couple of weeks ago, it DOES NOT have the side fan. I believe if you want that fan, you need to buy the SE (edition) (Scandinavian edition). And i can only find it for £70. Is that fan/bracket worth £20?
found the op, http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9565061&postcount=48
The SE seems to have a different HDD cage, mine is just a U shaped bracket.(still removable)
It looks like this: Clicky

the PC-7 is available in black and silver, i wanted black, but a competitor was out of stock, so i got silver from ocuk.
I'm glad i got silver. :)

That’s what was shown in the review.

My German isn’t very good but checking elsewhere it looks like it does come with the III.
No idea about the II.

Looks neat.

Looks like it takes up a lot of space though.

I’m hoping you can fit a BFG8800 GTS in there.

Any thoughts.

To me it’s well worth the extra £11.50.

would it not be better to do away with the HDD cage, relocate the Hard drive to the FDD bay? surely then the front fan would feed more air to the graphics card?

My intention was to install the HD’s in a Lian Li EX-34B HDD Bay which comes with a filtered 120mm fan and replaces 3 x 5.25 inch bays.
This means the existing HDD cage is redundant which will further improve airflow and provide more space.
You then end up with 1 x 5.25 inch bay which is unfortunate.

The rear side fan appears not to be filtered and I don’t see the point of filtered front intakes and a side fan which isn’t.

The second 120mm front intake will improve airflow and balance reversing the flow of the side fan from an intake to an outtake.

The two 3.5 inch bays are a bit of a pain to me since I don’t need them and are the only obvious weakness in the design for my needs but no doubt others prefer to have them available. I’d rather have the HD’s in good airflow if possible.

You can get a smaller HDD cage which replaces 2 x 5.25 inch bays but it’s only an 80mm fan which will tend to be noisier and less effective than the 120mm unit.

My main concern is whether I can fit a BFG8800 GTS in there.

Edit 1: 8800 GTX compatibility is interesting and they are probably not even referring to the SE III.

Edit 2: Thanks Topshot - I'd forgotten you first put me on to the PC-7.
