Hi all,

A while ago, my microphone stopped working on my headset, but only when connecting to the front panel of the Lian-Li PC-7H case. I suspected a faulty connection on the underside of the power button panel.

As I removed the optical drive from the top slot, it must have snagged on a cable or something, because the power cable snapped/disconnected and I can't think of a way to reattach it. It seemed to me like a poor design that the connections sit directly against the top of that drive.

I simply purchased an identical new case and swapped everything out in to that case for the time being, but it would be nice to know if I could fix the old case and perhaps sell it on eBay, or if not, sell it as faulty spares (and as a side note - if anybody is interested in buying spare parts and this case cannot be fixed, then you are welcome to make an offer)

Here are some photos of the broken connector: http://imgur.com/a/rSvMY

The moment somebody mentions a soldering iron, I'm going to admit defeat :)

Thanks in advance!

Think you answered your self already, you would need a soldering iron to do a good job of it. But a simple de-solder and replacement of wire is all you need.

Another option is to buy the front panel as a spare part from Lian Li, possibly check the OCUK case parts page.

*Edit Looks to be the same layout for your case.

Alright, thanks! I appreciate the reply.

I'm a wimp when it comes to soldering, I'll see if I can get my brother to give me a hand with it.

Thanks for the suggestion for the replacement multimedia panel. However, it should be noted that the multimedia panel is a separate unit from the power buttons and connectors. The power connector panel is attached to the case with rivets and does not appear to be removable/replaceable.

I'll update this post again if I either proceed with the work or give up ;)
