im trying to decide on a case to mount a 120.2 rad internally

i was thinking v2000 or tj 07 but there hoooooj

so i fancy a pc-a16b and was wondering if it would be possible to mount a 120.2 in the top of this beauty, what do you reckon ?

i need to retain at least 3x 5.25 bays (sc front panel/dvdrw/fan controler) and mabey a forth for a bay res although i could use a swiftec micro instead

so does anyone know if its possible?

cheers

id only attempt if you were totally sure you werent going to **** it up, as that would be a disaster.

have you considered a Tt LCS and replacing their rads with a better one?

I doubt you would be able to keep the 4 bays and mount the rad due the the PSU being on the top, what about a v1000+?

woulnt toch thermaltack with a barge pole tbh

looking at the lian li site it has 6 free 5.25 bays and a movable hdd carrier

i reckon it is quite possible im just worried about clearance with psu

http://www.lian-li.com/product/product06.php?pr_index=22&cl_index=1&sc_index=1&ss_index=4&type=a

i feel confident that i could mount a rad in the top as ive seen a guide showing how to mount a 120.3 in the top of a tj 07 so its bassically same as that

also im a carpenter/joiner so im used to cutting and measuring etc :D

would give me a great chance to flex my new dremmel the mrs bought me for my birthday a couple of months ago

yep im pretty much convinced its possible, and it would be sexual as **** with a wc set up inside this baby

some one on here put a 120.2 in the top of a v1200b the depth is 490mm

the pc-a16b is 440mm deep, my ocz 700w is 180mm alowing 25 mm for cables to drop out so that leaves 260mm so its tight but possible maybee ?

edit: might not actually a site i just checked gives 304mm as length of the thermochill pa 120.2

edit 2: its the same as a pc7 490mm depth so due to the removable front bays it might just go i'll have to check

i wonder if ocuk would measure the internal dimentions for me

doubt it eh :D

ive cracked it :D if the rad is tight the psu can be moved out the back of the case :

see the plate that it mounts on this could be spaced out with cylindrical washers/threaded bar and nuts so as it sticks out the back of the case :D

so if my measurements are correct, the rad would be 20-30 mm to big the worse way, and by moving psu back it would be allowed to fit

looks like ive found my new case then

will do mate, still trying to rase funds need about £450 to buy cooling kit and case, so im selling everything atm

but hopefully in a month or so should be well on the way :D

Just an idea, you could do a 2 x 120.1 split and mount one over the 120mm fan at the back. The case has the holes already cut for it, then put the other in the top.

I was just about to order a A16B as they are back in stock, then i saw the price increase up to £175

i only want to cool cpu for now with 1 loop, so 120.2 is better and less restrictive than 2 singles, also if i add gpu/chipset later ive got a rad that can cope ;)

I mounted mine in the front, very tight fit but it went in. There's a french company that do a top mounted rad in an A16, can't find the link at the moment unfortunately but again, very tight, I'd think about a modular PSU if you're going that route.

Stinka your signature's filesize is over the 20KB maximum allowed. Lose those extra couple of kilobytes for a nice trim summer look.
