As per the topic I want to build a new HTPC around the Lian Li PC-C50B case. I'll be upgrading from a Philips LX3000 which is a sleek looking mini-pc using laptop parts but unfortunately cannot cope with 1080p video.

I was thinking of the following spec:
  • Lian Li PC-C50B case
  • Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge)
  • Noctua NH-C12P SE14 CPU Cooler
  • H67 motherboard
  • 4GB RAM
  • SSD for OS
  • BlackGold BGT3620 Dual Freeview/Freeview HD Tuner Card
  • Another dual-tuner card for Freesat HD
The HTPC is to be connected to my A/V receiver (Yamaha RX-V767) via a single HDMI cable for audio/video preferably. The receiver in turn will be connected to a 1080p 3D capable TV and a 5.0 speaker system (Wharfedale Diamond 10.7/10.CM/10.1)
I will be using the HTPC to stream 1080p video from my NAS over homeplug networking but recording TV on a local hard disk. For the media player I would like to use XBMC (currently using Windows Media Centre as it works with CoreAVC pretty well).

I would appreciate specific recommendations of motherboard, cpu (if different to above), ram, ssd and freesat tuner if you've experience in that dept.

A couple questions also...
  1. Will the on-cpu HD 3000 graphics be sufficient to output high bitrate 1080p 3D movies?
  2. How should sound be handled and will I be able to play the best formats?
Oh and onboard usb3 headers would be nice for the front case-mounted usb3 ports.

Any help is appreciated....
