Have been looking at new cases recently and it really seems there's some magnificent specimens around.

I've stumbled upon this beauty.

Looks like it would be the perfect housing for http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-003-OB or similar.

Just wondering if anyone's familiar with this or Lian Li's other premium cases and what their thoughts are on them?

Superb looking case, along with its smaller model the Lian Li Tyr PC-X500.

I'm a watercooler , so can't comment on the air cooling efficiency, though i had read that the upper chamber suffers from a lack of cooling, mostly with the HDDs' being in the upper part of the PC-X500.

But that was just 1 review.

Fine cases, and i doubt you could go wrong with either model.

Superb looking case, im in the market for a new case and have looked at Lian li's full tower range, very seriously considering an a70fb as i may be going to a watercooled setup in the future.

I've had virtually every Quality case going and x2000 one has possibly been the nicest/easiest to work on. Removable Motherboard tray and rear cpu cut out all work very well and airflow is one of the best I've encountered. It's not an especially good water cooling case as it's quite short and radiators would be tricky to accommodate in the chambers.

The only minuses I would give it are side ejecting 5 1/4 bays (a fiddle if you move your case about and you then realise they're ejecting on the wrong side) and the side panels are a VERY large expanse of aluminium and if not aligned exactly with the 5 1/4 bays will bow out slightly. Other than that I'd give it a 90% score.

Here's a piccy of mine

Nice to hear good things about it.

Thanks for the photo, looks good. I like the idea of watercooling however I'm a bit too lazy and want to keep a warranty on my soon to be purchased 5970, which is also apparantly 35cm long so need a decent sized case.

Do you know how to fit a 2.5" SSD in the hard drive compartment of that case? That's something I'm planning to do.

You won't be able to fit it in the HDD bay as is. That will only take standard arranged SATA drives. In truth SSDs are so small and light to can really put them anywhere you fancy.

Just buy an 3.25 to 2.5 adapter (akasa make one) and you sorted

This may not work as with this Lian Li all the hot swap circuitry is mounted behind the racks. You'd need to know that your power & sata ports on the drive match up the ones on the circuit board. Standard drives do but funny ones such as the new 'raptors do not.

I don't know if it will fit, the case is 230 wide so maybe, I can't find any listing for cases that the Megahalems coolers fit in. Perhaps if you look for cases that it does fir and compare the dimensions of that case it will give you an idea.

In this review they tested the cooler on a Silverstone Raven RV02, I didn't read the review in detail but scanning it didn't see any comments about not getting the door on.

Google tells me the Raven RV02 is 212 wide which is less than the X2000 so it might well fit. If you have already ordered it I guess you will find out soon enough, god knows if it doesn't fit a standard full tower then the manufacturer is limiting their market a lot.

I looked at this very case and the 68cm height ruled it out for my space. I went for the PC-70AFB with a H50 as a cooler, should be here on Monday so I am going to have a fun

Let me us know if you get it and if it fits, i would be interested to know. Good luck and congrats on buying a very fine case.

Cheers for the review, that's reassured me. I haven't yet ordered it however am intending to in the next day or so as I'm keen to be all set up by end of next week. And I really do have my heart set on this case now so would be gutted to not get it!

I've emailed Prolimatech and Lian Li so hopefully they'll reply soon if there's a definitive answer.

I totally aggree with you that if it's too large for this case then they must be limiting themselves quite a lot, and yes at 68cm that is quite gargantuan. I've never even had a full tower before so it will be quite a change for me.

I would be getting this cooler as part of an overclocked bundle from this site, so I wonder if they would swap out the CPU cooler for a shorter one in the event it won't fit, will check that with them.

Here you go, the ruler is resting against my cooler top plate and there's and extra 5mm on the end of the ruler before the measurements start. (although the picture is at a slight angle so you won't get the 18cm)

I have another worry now.

As I understand it the case is quite thin.

So would it be able to contain this CPU heatsink?

1 X Prolimatech Megahalems Performance CPU Cooler (Socket 775/1366)

Dimensions: (L)130mm X (W)74mmX (H)158.7mm

I really hope it will!

That's nothing, the Noctua NH-D14 is 160mm tall! Hehe.

Saying that it fit my Lian Li B25 so no doubt it will fit in Lian Li's flagship case.
