Lian Li V series cases - Problems?

Can anyone offer their experiences with the V1000/1200/2000 cases in relation to:

1. Does the mesh design on the front panel cause your your case to get more dusty than a normal case, or are most of the perforations blocked by the frame behind, etc.

2. Any problems with the front input cables (USB,1394 etc.) not being able to reach the MOBO headers (expecially on the 1200/2000)

3. Does the upside down MOBO cause any extra heat problems?

4. Does your PSU suck in tons of dust because it is housed at the bottom of the case by an unfiltered grill?

5. What PSU's should be avoided on the V1000 because of the small PSU bay?

Any help on these would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the others as I don't own a v series case, but I have a G50 with the same mobo layout and it is about 1-2c higher than in my gigabyte aurora. Hardly gonna kill the motherboard :p And the temp difference could be due to the G50 being tiny.

Got a V2000 and I'd say:

1. No more than any other case.

2. The front USB and audio cables are plenty long enough. Not just to reach to the motherboard, but also for cable management too.

3. Not sure too be honest, maybe 1 or 2 degrees here or there.

4. Not checked my PSU recently so can't really comment.

5. The PSU bay on a V2000 is massive.

Have a V1000 here.

1) Not really, I think dust in your case is more relative to the dust in the environment in which it is used, this is no more dusty than my previous Silverstone cases for instance.

2) These were very long on my model, long enough to reach into the far upper right corner of the case if looking at it with the side panel off.

3) None at all, there is a vent fan directly behind the CPU and you don't have the heat from a card rising into the cpu area either, the GPU also has a 120mm side fan to vent at the top (OcUK shows the window version right now).

4) I was truly worried about this at the time I built, but my Corsair 620 has less dust in it right now than the rest of the case. Doesn't make much sense to me, but that's how it is heh. Again this is also down to the environment.

5) Any non modular ones are 100% fine if standard length as all the leads go through the space fine. If using modular the connectors into the psu need to not be more than a cm or two as the partition will foul them. On the upside you can safely remove and move that partition back to the HD area giving a huge PSU bay.

I deeply regret not going Lian-Li years ago, I hated most of my Silverstones so much the last one before the v1000 was beaten to death with lump hammer.

The build quality and flexibility is perfect, I liked them so much I've since bought 2 more and stored them away for future builds in case the world gets taken over by cheap plastic transformer cases.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Think I am going to get the Corsair PSU as well, have heard plenty of good things about it, and if it fits your V1000 then it widens the choice nicely.

Think I will have to bite the bullet and go for the v2000 though as I like the height.

As regards the fans, are the fans that bolt into the back of the case that sits over the GPU/expansion cards blowing or pulling air, and what is the difference between the one on the plus and the one on the plusII?

Plus 1 has a blower fan, its intended to be used when running SLI.
Plus 2 has a conventional fan on a bracket with a mesh square on the side panel, to be used when running SLI.

The plus 2 also solves the problems with the front headers sometimes being labelled incorrectly.

The fans are front in, read in.

The v1000+ cooling depends on the rig in it, same with the v2000+. Tha fan configuration for one computer will not be the same as for someone else.

I ran all intakes to get the lowest temperatures when I was using my v1000+, you have to experiment with it. :)

Can't go wrong with the V2000, if you have the space to put it. You'll struggle to fill it with stuff.

My V1000 plus2 came as default with front fan in, rear fan in and GPU vent out.

Changing the rear fan to out improved my temps. But you need to change it depending on heatsink type, the plus2 is designed for the intel stock style hsf design where air is sucked down into the HS, the rear fan used with the provided shroud provides for this solution nicely.
My Zalman sucks from the front of the case and blows right out, if I left the rear fan sucking in it would be blowing against the Zalman, after I reversed the rear fan my temps improved, conversely I could have also reversed my Zalman, but I chose the easier solution.

Enjoy your case mate, never heard anyone complain about these things. Lian-Li has my loyalty for life, unless they change the entire range into giant snail shells, oysters or clams or something. (it might happen!)

Have ordered a V2000 and am now going to get a V1000 (maybe) for a second build. Does your Corsair 620 PSU fit in the V1000 without removing the partition into the hard drive bay?

I have a Lian Li V1000

my motherboard temps are in the 50s, because my Motherboard is passively cooled.

obviously i've got no cool air flow into the main compartment, the CPU temps are lovely and low, but motherboard is too high

anybody else got a LL V1000 and a passively cooled northbridge ?

Took delivery of noth a V1000 plusII and a V2000 plusII yesterday, but have only built the V2000 at the moment.

Have a passively cooled DS4 with a Ninja on the 6600, with the HS fan blowing towards the rear fan, which is set to extract air from the case, plus the side fan is also pulling air out. Obviously nothing pulling air in specifically but have got the lowest temps on my PC this way so far.

CPU idling at mid 20's, case currently 30c.

Have a 7900 GS KO in there at the mo as the place where I ordered an 8800 from sent the wrong card, things may well warm up a bit then.
