Hi

I'm finding some problems getting any accessories for my V1000 case. I'm thinking of a side window, but can't find anyone who sells them.

Ive looked everywhere also and could only find one seller in UK who is permanently out of stock.
You can import one from the US. I worked it out at about $100 / £50.
I am going to get someone to cut mine locally I reckon.

Please don't ask for competitors as it's the fastest way I know of to get suspended - or worse.

Have you tried searching on Froogle.co.uk for a Lian Li V1000 window panel?

you would think ocuk would sell the parts that go with there cases coz i cant find much for my v2000+2 which i got from ocuk :(

I've searched everywhere & can't find a thing. I accept that posting a competitor's link would be a good way to get zapped, but if you think about it, OC don't sell Lian-Li case accessories. So how can someone who *does* sell Lian-Li case bits be a competitor? It's like saying a Land Rover dealer is a competitor (if you see what I mean).

I bought my Lian-Li case from OC, but now can't get bits for it. :(

They might sell other things that OcUK sell and that does make them a competitor.

Lian Li V1000/V1000+ window panels are available in the UK. I haven't seen an V1000+ II panels, but doubtless they will arrive if there is any demand.

These cases sell in the hundreds in the UK, and how many side panels do you think they sell? It might be as low as single figures I reckon. So why would any retailer stock them? The chances of selling one are very slim indeed. The link that is thrown up by Froogle will give you a company that will order you one if OcUK won't.

No-one forced you to buy it from OcUK and surely you knew before you ordered that they didn't have window side panels for these cases? It seems a bit daft to complain about it after the event?

You doubtless bought from OcUK because the price was attractive and they had stock. That's fair enough, but they keep the prices low by not stocking slow-moving items like V2000 side panels. And because they can't guarantee which V2000 they actually have they would have to carry both the V2000+ and V2000+ II side panels to be sure they could supply the right one with the case. I'd be prepared to bet pretty heavily that they sell under a hundred V2000's (both colours combined) per year and that the whole UK market for V2000's is probably under 500/year. When you think of it like that, it's no wonder you have to special-order everything for them.

I had to order my V2000+ II bits from the US, but they came within a week and because they are nice, light, aluminium they don't weigh much so they are cheap to post. A genuine window side panel, a 4-HDD vented front panel with 120mm fan and 4 vented blanking plates came to under £100 delivered USPS.

not daft really i bought it from ocuk coz like most on here i buy most of my computer bits from them as for the most part imho they are the best on the net with regards to prices and customer sevicesm, and i think the only reason they only sell single figures (by your saying) of the side panels is coz no one stocks them if companys did then they would sell well

firstly oc do sell accessories for the v1000 case, just not side panel windows.

you can get the cd drive bay cover jobbies, temp controller etc...

side panel windows can be obtained from elsewhere in the uk, but they are expensive for what they are, and arent particularly easy to get hold of. here is what it looks like, if you fancy making you own

only problem with this, as said before, it isnt suitable for v1000+II cases with the side fan. personally i havent seen any with a cutout/mesh for this so if you have a +II case you would have to make your own/customize one anyway.

should have got an eclipse lian li are so overated.

Except the Lian Li have a much nicer external look to them. I do wish akasa would do one with an metal front rather that the bloody plastic they use now.

agreed, ONLY thing i dislike about my Eclipse is the plastic front!

Maybe i'll upgrade to a PC-A10....... need some other bits first though!

I'm looking for a side window because the case I got from OC didn't have a side window, despite there being one in the photo. So knowing OCs customer services, I'm not complaining, I'm trying to buy one elsewhere. I'll know better than to ask on here next time though. I bought the case from OC because it was the only place that had any that I could find. OC is generally the last place I source kit from.

I agree 100% - that photograph is misleading. I'm surprised no-one has picked them up for it yet. Doubtless they have some catch-all legal statement somewhere about the pictures only being representations of what is possible.

Send me an e-mail on my trust address and I'll see if I can help any further.

Cheers.

I got 3 magnesium Eclipse fronts made up by a casting company last year and I got a quote from Hoojum to make them up in milled alloy. I then asked people to contact me if they wanted one. To get the first 100 units made would have cost £3000 so they would have had to have been £70 each to make it worth my while. Do you know how many takers I got? Not one. At £50? None. People want stuff for nothing and it's not possible to do it. Folks will pay £9 for a Lian Li CD Bezel that are churned out in their thousands, but no-one would pay £50 for a custom made Eclipse front. And everyone wanted something different too. What really killed it was Custom PC said the Mirage had an alloy front and everyone said that was only £25 more than an Eclipse (and it turned out to be plastic anyway ROFL!).

I have built PC's in both cases - The quality of the Lian Li is way above the quality of the Akasa case.
In the Lian Li - Everything matches up perfectly - Akasa, in the case I had, you had to move the HDD rack over slightly to get the screws in.
Plastic -> Alu. Need I continue?
(Akasa is a good case though, just not as good quality as any Lian Li)

Regarding the Lian Li sidepanel - I have seen one shop in the UK stock it.
I have the V1000's Windowed Side Panel (I have the model before the side fan - Have a blower so it was fine for me), it is a lot for the windowed panel - But I couldn't cut a window as well as that.
(Corrugated edges)

So yes - You pay a lot for the case and sidepanel - But the case is the thing that gets upgraded the least IMHO. So as well buying one that will last several years.

thats a shame, though you have to admit, £70 for a front for a case costing £80-£100 is quite a lot for just a new front (£50 is more reasonable though)! Akasa have really missed a trick, as they are a very popular case, so if they did it themselves they would find it a lot easier that you or i.

That said, kudos for trying. And the Mirage thing..... god i hate it when reviewers BS like that!
