Lian-Li V1200, V1200+ & Side Windows

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if there's a Lian-Li V1200 or V1200+ available with a windowed side panel? It looks like such a great case but I like to look at my hard work when I'm finished rather than sealing it all away!

Also, the PSU bay looks substantially bigger than that found in the V1000 / V1000+ - is this the case? (no pun intended!) and will it be able to house an Enermax Galaxy 1000W? If not, what would the biggest modular PSU it could potentially house?

If the answer to either of these questions is no, then I may have to look at the V2000 instead but I don't really want a full tower (in terms of height) - can anyone suggest an alternative?

The v1200 is useless, do not buy it.

v1200+ is good and can easily hold a Galaxy as can the v1000+ (notice the +).

There is not a v1200 window panel so you would have to mod the case yourself.

Thanks for the advice - why is the V1200 so useless? I can't find a V1200+ anywhere, only the V1200. I can find a V1000+ though

Here on OCUK, they have the Black one which I want but only the silver one seems to have a windowed side panel

It won't come with a side panel, despite the picture. OCUK should replace that picture because this issue has come up numerous times here. It's very confusing for people like yourself. The window has to be purchased separately, and OCUK don't even sell them!!

Dang, good job I didn't want a silver one then otherwise I would've ordered that one thinking it had a side window!!

I don't see how an Enermax 1000W will fit in the V1000+ by the way, the PSU bay looks too small for that. Can anyone here tell me otherwise? It's the reason I'm thinking about the V1200 as it's the same case but deeper and thus will allow such a sizable PSU to be fitted.

Apparently the V1200+ isn't available anymore in the UK, only the V1200 - is it a good enough case or should I go with the V1000+ instead (bearing in mind the PSU requirements) ?

The v1200 has riveted compartments for the hard drives, the + versions of the V series are removable.

This means that the v1000+ can potentially have much more space for a PSU than the v1200 can.

Ok, gone and got the V1000+ (actually it's the V1000 Plus II) but now I'm worried that the PSU I've ordered won't fit properly

I've ordered a Coolermaster Real Power Pro 850W which measures 150mm x 180mm x 86mm (W x L x H) and the PSU bay will only take a maximum length of about 165mm

I can remove the baffle plate and one of the HDD racks but will this leave enough room for the cables? I have the option to take the case back and exchange it for a V1200 instead but I don't know what to do. Any advice??

You'll probably need to remove the rear-most drive bay. Should unscrew out, not a problem.

I can do that but I'm worried that there still won't be enough room for the cabling (the Coolermaster isn't a modular PSU) - do you think there will be or am I better off exchanging the case while the going's good?

I actually thought the PSU was a standard ATX size as that's what it said on the description but on Coolermasters web site it says it's 180mm long - 40mm more than a regular ATX supply.

**Note** Just had a look on Lian-Li's website and the V1200 PSU bay looks to be the same size as the V1000+, however, the V1200+ looks to have a longer PSU bay - can anyone confirm this or is the PSU bay on either the V1200 / V1200+ the same length?

Thanks for the advice, I'll persevere with the V1000+ then and hope that when the PSU arrives, I can do a bit of jiggery pokery to get it in!

Just out of interest, why doesn't anyone like the V1200? As far as I can tell, it's the same as the V1000 but just extended. A few reviews on the web seem to like it a lot hence why I thought about getting it.

I ended up getting the V1000+ on recommendation but the V1200 was only £7 + VAT more expensive from where I got it from so I can't see it being a cost issue...

Oh rite, ok then.

Anyway, if you're sure I'll have enough room for cables (even with a longer PSU?!) then I'll stick with the V1000+ and remove the rear HDD caddy. Thanks for the advice
