Hi guys, a friend of mine has just bought a load of new kit including a Lian-Li V600 case and a Core 2 Quad 6600 G0. He wants to use a better cooler than the stock cooler that comes with the processor, so... Any suggestions bearing in mind the height factor?

Cheers all!

Silverstone NT-06 Lite with a decent PSU fan and you're away. If you need a more powerful cooling system then the Thermaltake Blue or Ruby Orbs are good, but could be a little loud and the Silverstone NT03 is brilliant, but very expensive for what it is.

Cheers for the response - the Silverstone NT-06 looks promising, however I thought I would check what you meant by PSU fan? Do you mean the fan in the PSU? If so, he has taken my advice and spent money on the PSU by buying the Corsair 600W unit. Do you think that would suffice, meaning a lack of requirement for a CPU fan, simply the heatsink?

Cheers.

i would have said the Noctua but i don't think it would fit in your case.... but if it does.. get it... excellent cooler... i got one on my Q6600... doing a nice job as well !! :D

The Corsair will do fine with the NT-06 lite. You don't need a CPU fan, the PSU fan is so close to the cooler, it does both jobs. That's how it's designed and it works really, really well. Silent too.
